looking for help with some Props

Anyone have an idea of how to build a decent looking boat screw, or proppeller or wheel if thats your prefered term. I work at a shipyard and I hear all 3. I'm working ona model in mini-fig scale and the wheels I have no clue about yet. Can anyone (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jan-02, to lugnet.boats)

Re: The ship after the dark ages

(...) is especially cool--something about liner windows just make or break the model. It's sort of Carpathia-lookin'. (Is it gonna have a pool?) (...) LS@H, I'd bet. That's where I get all of mine! :D (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.boats, lugnet.town)

The ship after the dark ages

Hey guys, After my one year dark age, I've finally begun building again. Just want to share these pictures of a new ship I'm working on (still need to work out some problems with the boxy look). It's a sorta trans-atlantic liner(ish) and I've gotten (...) (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.boats, lugnet.town)

  Re: SNOT Boating, con't (LONG)

Shaun, That's looking great! The hull's "smoothness" is very cool, The POV'd thumbnail's actually look like a real model boat hull, not lego, great job, I was at my library last night picking some WWII plane books up, and I checked for some (...)   RE: SNOT Boating, con't

(...) You can turn off perspective in POV-Ray by adding the keyword "orthographic" to the camera. For example, camera { location <x,y,x> look_at <x',y',z'> orthographic } Hope that helps! Just remember to remove the keyword when you want perspective (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats, lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: SNOT Boating, con't

(...) I put up a couple more views. As much as I like POVRay, it unfortunately insists on a 3d perspective, so even when I want a simple top down or side projection view, you're stuck with some distortion on the ends. Ahh well, I suppose that is, (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats)

(...) *boo hoo hoo* You cad, I chawwenge you to a DUEL! :) (...) I'm glad you actually got a copy of the thing. I hope you'll post lateral and dorsal views--I'd like to get a look at that curvature. Do you actually have enough 1x1 technic beams to (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats)

  MegaBloks Boomer

Hey Rick (and all)-- For that interior detail, I saw something very interesting this weekend at TRU: A MegaBloks cut-away model of a 'boomer! I don't know if it would be worth a look, as it's nowhere near minifig scale, but I found it sort of (...)
