Two New MOC's: Tourism on the moon? —William R. Ward
I have uploaded two new MOC's to represent my vision for space tourism: an Earth-to-orbit passenger shuttle, and a lunar tour vehicle for exploring the moon's surface in style. First, links to my web pages and Brickshelf (same pics, but there are (...) (22 years ago, 24-Feb-02, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

(...) Why do I always seem to do this? Let me know what thou knowest? I mean to say: LMKWYT. --Bill. (22 years ago, 24-Feb-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Two New MOC's: Tourism on the moon? —Jason Spears
(...) <snip> (...) They look great Bill. The sliding hatch on the shuttle is sharp. The landing gear hides quite nicely. The engine room seems very cramped and industrial (which of course is exactly how it should be!) What are those dark grey pieces (...) (22 years ago, 24-Feb-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Two New MOC's: Tourism on the moon? —William R. Ward
(...) They're from a Life on Mars mecha. The original design had propellers in them, but I used white wheel hubs instead. (...) The TV piece was from an old Classic Space set. I forget which one, but it was a lunar base type set with a rocket (...) (22 years ago, 24-Feb-02, to lugnet.space)

Sweet! I love it when you build a MOC and then add another MOC that's meant to go with it. Awesome. Any chance for detail pics of the workings of your door? What I want to know is, can the door be closed from the outside? or do you have to do it (...) (22 years ago, 24-Feb-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Two New MOC's: Tourism on the moon? —William R. Ward
(...) Thanks! If I had had this done sooner I would've built a story around them and submitted to the ISCC... But in a way, the ISCC entries inspired it. (...) The detail pics would be difficult because of the black and white color scheme. It's just (...) (22 years ago, 24-Feb-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Two New MOC's: Tourism on the moon? —Joe Meno
(...) Hey, it's the Pan Am Orion from 2001! And a really good version of it! (...) and that's the ATV version of the Lunar Bus on 2001! Wow! I took the tour, got to know the crew, but didn't get any ticket information...what's up with that? (...) (22 years ago, 25-Feb-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Two New MOC's: Tourism on the moon? —William R. Ward
(...) The design isn't really based on the Pan Am shuttle, but it performs the same function and is somewhat similar in shape. I think the Orion is quite a bit bigger, though. (...) Actually I hadn't considered that. I'll have to re-watch 2001, it's (...) (22 years ago, 25-Feb-02, to lugnet.space)

(...) Blue Danube started running through my head as soon as I went and saw these pages. They may not have been 100% inspired by 2001 but they came out similar enough to set it off for me. (parallel evolution I guess) Nice work! (22 years ago, 25-Feb-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Two New MOC's: Tourism on the moon? —William R. Ward
(...) Thanks! I'm going to have to rent 2001 now. I honestly didn't mean to be making MOCs from that movie! :-) Coming up next - my most challenging MOC ever: a sculpture of the black monolith from 2001. ;-) --Bill. (22 years ago, 25-Feb-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Two New MOC's: Tourism on the moon? —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) Fully functional and minifig scale, I presume? :) best LFB (22 years ago, 25-Feb-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Two New MOC's: Tourism on the moon? —William R. Ward
(...) Glad you liked it! I'm going to have to watch that movie again now... --Bill. (22 years ago, 25-Feb-02, to lugnet.space)
