MOC Statue of Liberty Pedestal —Nathan Sawaya
I decided it was time to add a pedestal to the Statue of Liberty set #3450. My results can be found here: (URL) also revised the torch by building it with clear bricks and then wiring it to light up. The wires run up the middle of the statue and (...)      (...) Nice job with the base... It looks very detailed but not over-powering. Very good idea with the electric wiring. It must be very cool to see this in the dark!!! Ben (22 years ago, 9-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.arch)

(...) Thanks. The torch indeed looks good in the dark, but does not photograph very well at all. Plus, I was out of batteries for the torch light on the day I was taking these pictures. Nonetheless, thanks for looking. (22 years ago, 10-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.arch)

Re: MOC Statue of Liberty Pedestal —Allan Bedford
(...) demonstrates a need for LEGO to get more of the new colors into circulation. While I'm fond of reducing specialized parts, I must admit that I'm also terribly fond of some of the new colors. They allow for much more realistic structures and (...)         Re: MOC Statue of Liberty Pedestal —Kenneth Wright
(...) Liberty set #3450, a pedestal kit for her to stand on. I would also hope it looked as nice as the one you built. You have shown (as many of the creative minds that post their pics. here) that one does not need to wait for a preformed kit - (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.arch)

Re: MOC Statue of Liberty Pedestal —Nathan Sawaya
(...) Thanks, Ken! I also thought about waiting to see if LEGO would release some sort of pedestal kit, but then decided that it probably wouldn't happen because of the limited market for it. I mean, the only people they would be selling to would be (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.arch)

Re: MOC Statue of Liberty Pedestal —Simon Bennett
(...) Indeed I do enjoy Nathan! What is the internal structure like? The guys at LLW said when they are doing buildings they put 2x bricks as bracing roughly every 10 studs, have you done something similar? If so I bet they aren't tan as you appear (...)          Re: MOC Statue of Liberty Pedestal —Nathan Sawaya
(...) I'm glad you like it. To answer your question: Since the most common tan piece seems to be the 2x4 brick, most of the exterior structure is made up of such brick. The walls, and so forth, are all 2x wide. The statue, however, is kind of heavy (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.arch)

Re: MOC Statue of Liberty Pedestal —Dave Lovelace
(...) Just kidding. I think you'd need about a million bricks for that. But if anyone could build it, it'd be you. Nice job! --Dave (jot and jab) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.arch)
