New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Thomas Avery
(URL) had this model finished for a long time now, but I finally got around to creating and uploading a few webpages for it. My final maximum pull is still 6.5 pounds (2.95 kg). So, Steve Lane still holds the record for maximum pull (4.5 kg, if I (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam)

Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Robert Fay
Great model! I am very impressed with the pneumatic steering. That had to be a real challenge. I will surely use your idea of beefing up the ends of the U joints. That was good thinking. Your presentation of this model is excellent. -- Bob Fay THE (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Thomas Avery
(...) If you have the space, then it's a good way to reinforce the u-joint. Another way (Steve Lane does this) is to bind the ends with tape. I've even used superglue before, but that's a little permanent. (...) Thanks for your compliments. TJ (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Joel Hart
(...) Excellent model and excellent choice on tractor to model! Among other things i collect, i collect die-cast International, Case and Case-International Ertl 1/64 tractors. I unfortuntly have not seen the die-castmodel that u built but i have (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Thomas Avery
(...) Oh yeh, "plow not included with model" ;-) Thanks for your compliments. I guess another reason why I chose to build this model is that I've always wanted to, for a long time now. I grew up in a small town where farming was the largest (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Jan-Tore Skålvik
Looks very good indeed. My compliments! As my latest wrecker are closing in, I think I will try to compete with yours (Steven and you) at the pulling thing. But I recon I wont be near 3kg! But I will give it a try anyway. Since your wheelbase are so (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Gaurav Thakur
(...) Very impressive! The loads you are referring to sound quite heavy for a Lego model to pull around and tractor itself looks quite nice and compact. :-) -Gaurav Thakur cp5670@home.com (URL) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Thomas Avery
(...) 3 kg doesn't seem like a lot of weight, but it's quite a bit in relation to Lego models. It's impressive to try and hold the model back with my hands. It feels like it's pulling more than 3 kg. The tractor is too compact. It's nearly solid (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Jason S. Mantor
That's cool, but not really the same thing. Pulling a 12kg object with wheels under it (like you're Garbage Truck ) requires some amount of force, but it is *much* less than lifting that same 12kg in an arrangement like the one that Thomas used to (...)         Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Simon Bennett

Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Thomas Avery
(...) Thanks! I wish I could get the tractor to look more realistic, but I think this is more of a Technic creation than a Modelteam model. (...)         Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Steven Lane
I agree with the others it's a great looking tractor, realistic and conforming to the prototype being modeled. It's also great puller. I reckon it would have great off-road performance because it would conform to the ground and has 4 weel drive (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New MOC: Articulated Tractor —Thomas Avery
(...) Thanks! I appreciate your comments. (...) I need to try driving over rough surfaces and inclines. I'm curious too. The large "power puller" wheels really helped too. They were a big improvement over the old solid 24x43 wheels. (...) I may make (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.technic)
