Greetings all,

I give you the monastery, the latest MOC from the Galactic Inquisition. This was inspired by the awesome floating idlands in the castle room at this year’s brickfest. I decided that I needed to build one, and then thought I needed more Inquisition, and generally space stuff, so it became a base built into an asteroid.

The monastery is a place for peaceful contemplation of the universe’s mysteries. Alternatively, that awesome bell tower (thanks for the bell tower idea to Keith Goldman) is actually a powerfull sensor array. The monks have several terminals for data tracking at their disposal. There are bunks for five, and a single bathroom. Unlike you other sin-filled, bidet using, frenchies, there’s toilet paper in the bathroom. Other features include two star-fighters... for shooting down rouge asteroids, and a spacious landing bay. There is also a coupling for docking with the standard 8 stud diameter Inquisition hatches, it can dock with the SoM, though I didn’t take any pics of this.

(...) I love it. The concept just can't be beaten, and I'm going to be scouting around for some cheap tan bricks to build an asteroid base of my own. My favorite detail is the hangar, I just love the way it looks. As a monastery I think it falls a (...) (20 years ago, 10-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Wow, just amazing. Is it even possible to make something this cool? I love the hanger doors on the front. Now all I need to do is make a Drop Troopers Moonbase. (20 years ago, 10-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
Re: Welcome to the monastery my children.

(...) Awesome. Really, really awesome. I don't know what else to say. Ok, maybe I do. The asteroid itself is easily the best I've seen rendered in Lego; it's surprisingly organic. As for the monastery, great integration with the rock and nice use of (...) (20 years ago, 10-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) All I can say is WOW. This is one very interesting base. The size alone is increadible, not to mention all the cool details like the landing bay and bell tower (Keith does have a few good ideas left I see!). Very cool and can't wait for the (...) (...) Sweet idea. Monasteries are cool as it is, asteroid-built monasteries are even better. I especially like the shape of the landing bay. The 'bell' tower is hot too. Good work, man. Roy (20 years ago, 10-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) Dan, As has been said, this thing rocks! (Okay that wasn't said yet specifically and bad pun intended! ;-) Anyway, I think the smooth design of the architecture pitted against the rough organic form works well. All of the detailing is awesome (...) (20 years ago, 10-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) Your asteroid rocks. How many UCS Yodas' worth is it? The interior is nice and utilitarian. I love the anachrolicious barrel usage. And that hexagonal door! Genius. As for minifigs, how about a creepy cyborg monk with the hydronauts face? You (...) (20 years ago, 10-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Impressive! I really like the effect of the rough, organic asteroid combined with the smooth artificial monastery. In general these monks seem more benign than the rest of the Inquisition; perhaps in their secluded location they don't take part in (...) (20 years ago, 10-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Hi Dan, What a nice & neat idea! From floating rocks to fitting out an asteroid with a monastry, here is a way I wouldn't have found! This MOC really is the *perfect* addition to your theme. I am thinking "Name of the Rose" when I see it. A library, (...) (20 years ago, 11-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) Oh man. I've always wanted to build an asteroid base. That deserves a Brammy. (URL) -Grand Admiral .space Curator (URL) (20 years ago, 11-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) Dan, Wow, what a great idea, and you executed it so well. Watch out for Space Monks. Thanks, George (20 years ago, 11-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

The Monastery is awesome!!! The hatches, the hangar, the fighters, the Toilet Paper are all awesome additions to this oustanding MOC. However, as with some others I don't see the Monastery in this. Perhaps you could add some torches to the walls to (...) (20 years ago, 11-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Oh wow, that is tottaly great! I like the way you built it and the concept made tangible is just too cool! Teriffic work. The vision is yours. I enjoyed looking through the gallery. Thank you for sharring. e (20 years ago, 11-Oct-04, to lugnet.space)

Rubin, you talentless hack...the only good thing about this moc is the bell-tower, and even that is poorly executed. Go home and get your shine box! -Keith That main door is pretty epic, and the angel-shrine area...but you choked by not having some (...) (20 years ago, 11-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) SNIP In the interest of efficiency, I thought I'd reply to everyone at once here. First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to check out my MOC and who posted comments. Also, thanks to everyone for all their praise, and for (...) (20 years ago, 12-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
