Hi folks,
http://peach.mie.utoronto.ca/events/lego/brickcast/
On Friday we're going to attempt a very experimental (read, unprofessional) live
broadcast of the BrickFest 2003 Keynote Address from Lego Direct SVP Brad
Justus. This will be a live video and audio streaming webcast.
This will allow the Lego enthusiast community at large to enjoy a little bit of
the BrickFest experience, albeit via a small video window.
Standard rtlToronto Disclaimer: You didn't pay anything for this, so you can't
be disappointed. The picture might break up. You might hear Brad about to
announce something amazing--then your network might hiccup and the server might
explode. Poor network latency might make you mistake Jake McKee for Aretha
Franklin. You will not be able to count the studs on the new 10092 Lego Minifig
Scale Starship Enterprise (save your Bar Mitzvah money now!) through the video
feed.
Encoding and distribution hardware is in place now and awaits network
integration when we get on site to GMU on Thursday evening. If it all works, if
you tune in Friday night starting around 5:30PM, you should be able to see a
"Please Standby..." message. So, until then, book mark this page and visit on
back on Friday afternoon--the links will go live then.
Calum
rtlToronto Guy
PS-If anyone has access to a fast connection (ie, you work at a university or an
ISP) and is running NT4/Windows 2000 Server, and is comfortable around NT
configuration, please let me know. I've provisioned two servers here at the
University, but have no idea what kind of demand we're expecting. Since about
four people expressed interest in a webcast, I have no idea if we have the
capacity and wouldn't mind
