The Egyptian and Amazon Adventure sets had, for villains, both the rival
fortune-hunters trying to beat Johnny to the treasure, and the Mummy /
skeletons / Amazon king guy trying to foil them both.

I would guess that the Lost World sets will have some regular villains
(hopefull resurrected from previous sets with only one or two newcomers)
again trying to steal the prize -- live dinosaurs, this time.

Hello Fellow Adventurers,
With all the fervor surrounding the July 2000 Lost Island of the • Dinosaurs
releases it is certainly a fun time to be an Adventurers fan.  I think I • echo
everyone's sentiments by saying it will be a long wait until then.  But we • can
take heart in the fact that the LEGO Group will be continuing this theme, • and
we will eventually be able to get our hands on more adventurers and • DINOSAURS!
In the meantime we have much speculating to do.
The first thing I wondered about was the treatment of the subtheme.  In
Egypt and Amazon we saw Johnny Thunder along with friends Pippin, Dr. • Kilroy,
and Harry searhing for treasure in ancient ruins while being pursued by • the
Baron, Slyboots, Villano, Palomar, and sometimes Gabarro.  What will be • going
on at the Lost Island?  Will the adventurers be pursued there by one of • the
established villains?  Will we see a new set of villains emerge?  Or will • they
face a menacing group as strange and mysterious as the dinosaurs • themselves?
My personal hopes are as follows: no more of the established villains • (I
have enough of them already), if there any new villians I hope they are
significantly different from the existing ones, and I really want to see • some
sort of caveman minifig or at least something like the Islanders as • natives to
the island.  In a perfect world we would see the adventurers pursued by • new
villains and restless natives, but I'll take what I can get.  I really • believe
that no villains would be better than one more Slyboots minifig.  Just • give us
extra dinos.  And on that train of thought doesn't Johnny have any other
friends, or at least a change of clothes for himself?  What about a • professor
of paleontology instead of Dr. Kilroy?  How about another driver type • along
the lines of Harry?  And please put Pippen in another new outfit like the
change for Amazon adventures.
Well that is my two cents worth.  How about the rest of you?  I would • love
to hear any and all ideas about the 2000 minifigs, so post up!

Play well,
Mark L

poachers and cavemen would be my villainous sugestions. wth odd mixes of the
current rogues. but definitely as "force of nature" mini-fig enemies, (ala the
mummy and achoo), there should be cavemen, reminicent of islanders and indians.
the downside would be what we all know the caves would be made of... but the
shaggy hair piece would be fun, and the weapons would be great, dark grey stone
spears, axes, bones, and of course, clubs. and if we were really lucky, ... a
cavewoman!

(...) indians. (...) stone (...) The shaggy hair piece was definitely on my mind. The cave could be one of those huge immensely crappy dragon caves if BURPs are really bothering you. I bet if that was the case you'd take the BURPs any day. You also (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.adventurers)
