The LUGNET Terms of Use Agreement,

   http://www.lugnet.com/admin/terms/?p=agreement

makes no requirement one way or the other regarding the place of regular
sales postings.  Only auctions are verboten by the LTUA.  However, it's
generally considered good netiquette not to spam theme groups with any kind
of sales postings, straight sale or otherwise.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we also need to clarify
the position of non-auction market posts in non-market groups since
everytime someone points out that perhaps a market post might be in the
wrong place, someone jumps up with the "it's against the T&C" and then a
discussion ensues which finally ends when Todd reminds us that the T&C
don't disallow non-auction market posts.

I'm starting to get the feeling that perhaps the T&C should relegate all
market posts to the appropriate group (other than the usual pointers to
auctions listing something of historical note).

This would be my personal preference - no market postings outside the .market
hierarchy that aren't fairly clearly for non-market purpose.  BUT, I'm aware
that other people don't feel that way.

Here's some of my reasoning, in no particular order:

1:If there is no rule, but only a custom, it can be ignored without worry.
2:People who ignore the custom actually get better exposure for their sale
than people who do respect the Lugnetiquette.  I don't think the people
playing nice should be at this disadvantage.
3:Insert "Slippery Slope" reasoning here.
4:I'm a compartmentalized dork.  If I'm reading castle, I don't want to see
market posts.  If I'm reading .market, I don't want to see castle posts.
5:Quoting from above: "since everytime... market posts."
6:I'm lazy, and want things to be as easy as possible for me. :)
