I second the above statement and endorse it fully.
I would also ask any and all members of the Mecha Building communinty, aka,
newsgroup readers to lend their support by posting along to this message thread.
The only other issue I would like to address is one of inclusion.
Mecha, bots, robots, etc... have been a part of the Space theme from the very
begining. The LUGNET newsgroup system included .mecha in an effort to recognize
the pioneering efforts of those who first began building such creations beyond
what was previously known.
Really all along they were a sub theme in the space system.
Due to those efforts before my arrvial to LUGNET as well as the current and
recent generation of builders, the LEGO company itself started to create Mecha
sets with the release of the Robobots and others as well as the recent Titan XP.
This move towards creating actual robot sets by LEGO is a direct influence by
AFoLs and the Brickshelf / Web based community.
Please consider the growth of the genre and the degree to which our "community"
has had an impact on current and yet to be released sets.
I would also point out, proudly, the total of posts in build.mecha out number
all of the other sub newsgroups of .build put together. This is an idication of
how ingrained the roots of the genre are; space.
Thank you,
Signed: Silly Important Mecha Guy.
