It would still not solve the problem of refering to an article which
is refered to by an article you have.
Say you have a bunch of LUGNET articles downloaded locally. You want
to refer to the parent of an article you have, but you don't have the
parent article itself downloaded.
In this case you can easily grab the Message-ID of the parent article
from the References header, but you cannot easily get the article
number of the parent.
