  Re: E-mails from nowhere

(...) <snipped> I'm getting these from .pirates. I've never, ever, EVER gotten any of these before, and I post rather extensively and exclusively from the Web interface. They're incredibly annoying, even worse than authentication. Who is (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

I keep getting these also. Has this person been unsubscribed from all Lugnet groups yet? Please do us a favor and unsubscribe this person so we don't get indirectly spammed. Thanks Frank (...) "Jason J. Railton" <j.j.railton@cwcom.net> wrote in message news:GMsBBr.AKv@lugnet.com... (...) Yes. I am getting the same thing. I can only assume it is something to do with the way lugnet forwards those messages. And that somehow ubisoft's mail (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.loc.uk)

  E-mails from nowhere

Just recently I've been receiving emails of messages I've posted to Lugnet marked as 'undeliverable mail'. Each takes the form of: ---...--- Your message To: lugnet.loc.uk@lugnet.com Subject: {{message title}} Sent: {{date of posting}} did not reach (...)   Re: LUGNET found on serach engine...

(...) Links within LUGNET pages actually call jump.cgi, this may affect the ability of search bots to count the pages they link to. That shouldn't affect links within non-LUGNET pages pointing to LUGNET pages, though. I'm not sure how LUGNET handles (...) (23 years ago, 13-Nov-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: LUGNET found on serach engine...

(...) Interesting, my first two pages are my way out of date AOL pages. At least my top level Lego page shows up third. Interestingly, it has a description and category tag, who puts those there?   Re: LUGNET found on serach engine...

(...) Google lists pages in order of the amount of links made to them from other sites...i.e. if your page is linked to by many other sites, your page will be higher in the list. A good example would be to search for "Shiri Dori"...her acronym guide (...) (23 years ago, 10-Nov-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

  LUGNET found on serach engine...

Perhaps this isn't anything new, but I was a bit surprisd to see a LUGNET member's page pop up on a Google internet search. I've never seen that happen before, and somehow thought LUGNET was immune... Was I confused? Thanks, -Jon (23 years ago, 10-Nov-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Another enhancement suggestion

Hi I just went to the members page (URL) (I assume the other sort orders are similar), and it took quite a while to load, being over 500K now. Maybe it's time to look at splitting it up into multiple pages, and maybe even a search function? ROSCO (23 years ago, 9-Nov-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Need brickbay help!

  Re: Counters (was:THE POSTING BLUES)

(...) Yes, and a high hit rate with no replies just tells you that a lot of people read your post but weren't interested enough to reply. Where's the benefit in that? -- Tony Hafner www.hafhead.com (23 years ago, 8-Nov-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Counters (was:THE POSTING BLUES)

(...) A counter would only indicate the number of times a post had been chosen for reading - which can be swayed by the catchy-ness of the title, the popularity of the poster, etc. Hence the hilight button at the -end- of messages. Posts with titles (...) (23 years ago, 8-Nov-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Counters (was:THE POSTING BLUES)

(...) I think the primary problem with counters on posts is that it won't tell you much because they won't include people using NNTP. It will only count people like me that use the web interface. Eric (23 years ago, 8-Nov-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Counters (was:THE POSTING BLUES)

(...) That's a really cool idea - This could allow people to see that their posts are being read, even if they don't get the response that they are looking for. Of course, counters on people's pages usually do the trick as well - you know people are (...) (23 years ago, 8-Nov-01, to lugnet.castle.org.cw, lugnet.admin.general)
