Lugnet Contribution Idea? (Was: Re: Membership Packets)

Todd, Since it seems that the packets are behind often - what about opening up the task for members to do as a part of their donation to Lugnet? (...)   Re: Membership Packets

(...) Good question. Yes. Unfortunately, we're behind on printing and mailing. On the other hand, they're only a formality rather than a prerequisite to interaction. I appreciate your patience. --Todd (25 years ago, 3-Dec-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Membership Packets

I was wondering: Are membership packets still being distributed to all paid LUGNET members? I know this was being done when the first 100 or so members signed up, and it included (from what I read) some pretty neat things. Since only a few people (...)   migrate private set list to public list

Is there any easy way to migrate my private set list information in my membership webpage to the public list. I added it all as private (use to privacy on the NET) without thinking clearly about it :) Todd or whomever maintains the web forms, I (...) (25 years ago, 2-Dec-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Private boards?

(...) Some groups I am in use it as well, we use many of those features and the price is great. Have you figured out how to get egroups to emit a digest of all messages still archived?   Re: Private boards?

(...) FWIW, since Todd never answered, I'll poke my nose in and say that at an early NELUG meeting, we asked Todd for something similar, and he declined. I can't remember if it was a technical issue, or a Lugnet-focus issue, though. eric (25 years ago, 1-Dec-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Where can I post? (was: Can I post a WTB Duplo item here?)

(...) I think it's reasonable to post a request like that in Duplo. I think it is OK under these conditions: 1. The item you are buying/selling/trading doesn't appear often in BST 2. The newsgroup you are posting to doesn't have a lot of traffic. I (...) (25 years ago, 1-Dec-00, to lugnet.duplo, lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.general, lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

  Re: Private boards?

(...) Can't help you with lugnet, but for wamaltc and wamalug private communications, we use egroups[1]. I'm not completely happy with it, but it does allow you to run votes, store files, and manage a calander... in addition to web posting and (...) (25 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Can we add technic.slizer?

Help! The Throwbots, Roboriders and Bionicles have no home! Since the Bionicle theme indicates that these guys are here to stay, can a group technic.slizer be created for them? -gyug (25 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Private boards?

Okay, so here's a question. Is it technically possible, and/or feasible to have private, possibly password-protected boards set up? The reason I ask is that my local train club does its internal communications by email, and it is quite a burden on (...) (25 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Web interface cancels (was Re: Let's define what an auction announcement/update is)

(...) Ug, that's kinda gross. I think the cleanest way is what someone suggested earlier: When you request that a post be cancelled, the server simply send a confirmation e-mail to the person who posted the message. If they get the e-mail, it proves (...) (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Web interface cancels (was Re: Let's define what an auction announcement/update is)

Do we have numbers on relative mail/nntp/web POSTING usage? (...) NNTP already allows cancel. It is possible for someone who knows the NNTP protocol to forge cancels, I believe, but I am not sure.   Re: Web interface cancels (was Re: Let's define what an auction announcement/update is)

(...) One amelioration for the rogue cancel problem would be for the web interface to "stash" a cancelled post somewhere safe. Lots of variations on that possible.   Re: Web interface cancels (was Re: Let's define what an auction announcement/update is)

Re: Web interface cancels (was Re: Let's define what an auction announcement/update is)

(...) eh? the only way you can get an id cookie is by putting in the confirmation code, isn't it? Also, if you can cancel messages only by you, and only if you're logged in (have to be a member), that's pretty secure... No way to get the member (...)   Re: Web interface cancels (was Re: Let's define what an auction announcement/update is)

(...) Not really, although it can be. The problem being mainly that the web interface will still let you post if you don't have a cookie. It can actually give you a new one in some cases.
