Should (and can?) lugnet.announce be renamed to something else which isn't such
a newbie magnet?
Is the current name just too inviting to newbies
Would a name such as lugnet.announce.important instead get the point across?
Is its prominence on the page <http://www.lugnet.com/news/groups/> a dubious
placement?
Could a simple re-wording of the charter suffice in place of a renaming?
(I.e., to say in near-caps that it's not for frivolty?)

| (...) I think lugnet.admin.announce might work also. lugnet.announce.important might work, but is a little heavy handed. :) Definitely try rewording the charter, and maybe consider moving it down a little bit in the list. (26 years ago, 10-Oct-98, to lugnet.admin.general)

| (...) No. It's a useful, GOOD group. Make it moderated and you're the only person that can post stuff to it. IF you want REAL Lego stuff there too, all people have to do is send it to you. Make the Followup-To automatically set to (...) (26 years ago, 10-Oct-98, to lugnet.admin.general)

| (...) Couldn't you just set up the group so that only you (or others that admin Lugnet) post to it? I thought you could do this with NNTP... An ISP that I'd use to belong to did something similar to this. They set up one group where only the ISP (...) (26 years ago, 11-Oct-98, to lugnet.admin.general)
