  Re: peeron updates?

(...) Yah, we could do that. Not sure we actually need a newsgroup just for that though. A db.inv.discussion would probably be good... Also, I was thinking of just setting up a mailing list, that will allowe people to subscribe to peeron updates... (...) (25 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: peeron updates?

(...) I've been finding your site more and more useful and would like to see updates here somehwere. Weekly would be good when significant updates come that often. Maybe .announce would be the place for your site announcements. Perhaps you could (...) (25 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.admin.general)

  Possibility of lugnet.db.inv.discussion?

Is there any possibility of getting a discussion group for lugnet.db.inv? It seems like we have enough non-data posts in lugnet.db.inv to warrant at least thinking about it. And almost every one of them starts out with "I know this isn't a (...) (25 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: What is going on

(...) Rick, I shut you off when you started a wildly off-topic flamewar there, having nothing to do with LEGO or the group's charter. (2 URLs) disabled the block after things cooled down (and I see you've posted since then). (25 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: How much to licence Lugnet technology?

(...) The web stuff is all from-the-ground-up, yes. The news stuff stems from an open-source package called CNews. (...) Recommendations: * Use Perl5 or PHP4 for web stuff. * Consider CNews as well as INN for NNTP stuff. * Take an in-depth look at (...) (25 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: How much to licence Lugnet technology?

(...) Try WebX: (URL) believe the installation is free (no support) up to a certain traffic rate. IIRC, it was easy to setup and run but required a separate mail server. Newsgroups can be configured to be accessable via HTTP or NNTP. -Rob Doucette. (25 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: lugnet.org.us.lucny

(...) crossposted and FUT admin.general You might try sending Todd and/or Suzanne a note directly, or just posting to admin.general (hence my crosspost). I think IndyLUG is also at the point where there was talk of getting a newsgroup although I (...) (25 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.org, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: How much to licence Lugnet technology?

Although I know I'm replying to a rather old thread, this topic is exactly what I was going to post about. I'm trying to set up a disscussion server (for teachers) and was looking for a quality program to use. I've checked out the slashdot solution (...) (25 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.admin.general)
