Fuzzy categories: The death of black & white —Todd Lehman
[Crossposted to lugnet.admin.database & lugnet.general, with followups set to lugnet.admin.database] * Is LEGO set 1843 (a '96 Space/Castle value pack) actually a value pack containing two sets? Or is it one set with instructions to build two (...) (26 years ago, 7-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.general)

I am convinced that Lego originally separated Boats from the rest of their product line because the Boats used extremely (...) (26 years ago, 7-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

Also sprach Matthew Miller: : I'd say no. They definitely come from a different universe than that of : Lego's space stuff. Since Star Wars is supposedly the distant past, maybe the Star Wars sets are a past-space instead of future-space theme? :) / (...) (26 years ago, 9-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

Re: Fuzzy categories: The death of black & white —Todd Lehman
(...) That's an interesting thought. :) The question, of course, was a trick question -- where the [de]capitalization of "space" is intended to illustrate the inherent controversy/confusion. To be more precise, Star Wars sets are certainly "space" (...) (26 years ago, 10-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

Also sprach Todd Lehman: : To be more precise, Star Wars sets are certainly "space" sets (lowercase "s"), : but clearly not "Space" sets (uppercase "S" as in "LEGO[LAND] Space System") : because of their non-6[89]xx numbering.      (...) Ah, but sometimes they do (anything in 6800-6999 :-). But I admit, it's possible that TLG may someday destroy the sacred 6800-6999 range as they destroyed the 6700-6799 range. 67xx used to be solely for Space minifigs and Space Light & Sound (...)      (...) My Theory is that Ninja will move to 48xx. I think 3050-3053 are "promotional", like Unitron was. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Jeff (26 years ago, 11-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

(...) Sounds good. I wouldn't call those Ninja sets promotional, I would call them limited availability like Aquaraiders, RoboForce, etc. (26 years ago, 11-Feb-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

Re: Fuzzy categories: The death of black & white —Matthew Miller
(...) See, I'm not even sure about that. Three of the five currently-known sets are ground-transport and not space sets at all (not even in the sense of "designed for ground exploration of alien planets").
