  Re: lugnet.alphateam

(...) Well, for that matter, who would build a <set:6516 Moon Walker> or anything Time Cruisers for a town? :-) --Todd (24 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.town, lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.admin.database)

  Re: lugnet.alphateam

(...) Looking at the subtheme, I'd say some are town and some aren't. For example <set:6774 Alpha Team ATV> is fairly typical town, but <set:6771 Ogel Command Striker> is definately a space set. (I mean, who would build that for a town????) (24 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.town, lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.admin.database)

  Re: lugnet.alphateam

(...) hmmm good response, Todd like I said, I am waiting to buy them to see what add-on sets (Beta sets??) are available and to see if they survive until next year. There are those out there that like Alpha team and Life on Mars... personally...I (...) (24 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.town, lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.admin.database)

  Re: lugnet.alphateam

(...) I just double-checked the Alpha Team set numbers, and noticed that they're in the 677x range. That says they're not necessarily Town (which is 6300-6699) and also that it's probably going to be short-lived. But then again they're almost (...)   Re: New Lego Guide Look

(...) What if you count the records, and if there's more than say 20 (replace with number of your choice) in any category, use the links, otherwise display them all. ROSCO (24 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.database)

  Re: New Lego Guide Look

I think it's a good idea. But to keep everyone happy you can maybe set a preference in user profiles, so people can choose wether to get the links or the whole bunch in one go. Duq "Todd Lehman" <lehman@javanet.com> wrote in message (...) (24 years ago, 8-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.database)

Re: Member details in set database moved to subpages

(...) what if we go about it the other way - instead of dynamiclly generating the pages for each hit, regenerate the pages with a rotating list, nice'ed down so it won't be a lot of load... it can check before it starts for a page to see if it needs (...)   4801/4811 Defense Archer

4801/4811 Defense Archer...these are the same set inside the packaging. (I believe, IIRC, that 4811 is the polybag version.) 4811 has a piece count in the database, but 4801 does not. Both are 14 pieces. (24 years ago, 8-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.database)

  Re: New Lego Guide Look

(...) That was actually the first place I discovered the bottleneck -- even on a single page. I'm talking a difference of 0.15 seconds vs. 0.80 seconds in some cases (only to get worse as things grow). And it was 10 times worse on the (...) (24 years ago, 8-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.database)

Re: Member details in set database moved to subpages

(...) True, but it helps reduce it. Only logged-in members of LUGNET would see personal data on the Guide pages, and even then only if their preference is toggled to show such. So the question is: of the total hits on the Guide, what percentage come (...) (24 years ago, 8-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.database)

Re: Member details in set database moved to subpages

(...) Nod, one thing maybe would be to simply make the set's title be a link back to the set view, but better yet might be to make the secondary yellow bar at the top work like this?-- LEGO > SYSTEM > Star Wars > Episode I > 7117 Jar-Jar's Debacle (...)   Re: Member details in set database moved to subpages

(...) I think maybe "separately" referred to being on a separate page a la new system. And "used to be" may refer to the extra blank lines between comments - I don't remember ever seeing all that white space in the previous incarnation, and I think (...)   Re: New Lego Guide Look

Re: Member details in set database moved to subpages

(...) I can do that. (...) I'm not sure what you mean here by "used to be" and "separately." (...) Maybe it can swing back to that if I move things to a faster box and if not everyone selects the always-display option. :) --Todd (24 years ago, 7-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.database)

Re: Member details in set database moved to subpages

I would like to express my preference for this solution as well, with the "my info" part repeated at the top, and maybe with a link to go back (although I'm not clear why the back button isn't good enough for that, it's faster if the page (...)   Re: New Lego Guide Look

Re: Member details in set database moved to subpages

I've just started using the Opera browser on a PC, and was dismayed to see that the Guide pages showed up as really, really wide - the lists of members' names weren't wrapping to the screen, so the notes and (...)
