| (...) Shifty Enlighten. Where the heck do they get these names from? A friend bought me this really frightening clone knock off once, and we couldn't figure out what the heck it was-a boat, a police car, or something in between. Calum (22 years ago, 10-Jul-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

| | Shifty sets: brown beards!
|
| One of the Shifty sets is a copy of Lego's 1932 Wizard's Cart (URL) so you would think if you saw the box featuring a blue wizard with white beard pulling a cart. However, a Shifty set is always a bit of a lucky dip on colours, so it should have (...) (22 years ago, 25-Jun-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

| (...) They're pretty awful alright. I've only seen a couple Shifty sets, and it looks like not only do they make mistakes on their boxes, but there's a typo in their name ;) I *thought* these were a 'China-only' brand, and even then were iffy, so (...) | | Shifty Blocks
|
| I was able to find just one of the Shifty block sets, in a Dollar store in the small town of Drumheller, AB. I looked in several other such stores in Calgary, but came up empty. The set is an incredibly brazen rip-off of the Royal King LEGO set. The (...) (25 years ago, 30-Aug-99, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

| (...) I've been mixing and matching and found the figs to be very compatible with LEGO. I bought to small pirate sets and found the figs to be as follows. HATS: Very rough. The tricorns are much flatter than the LEGO equivalent and to not have the (...) (22 years ago, 21-Jun-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Lego is not always perfect, but Shifty is definitely a lot "iffy"-er based on my actual experiences with it (all reported in this newsgroup). (...) This is (...) Well, to my mind the HP sets had a similar problem with the bearded guy whose face was misprinted such that even though the minihead will sit lower (or correctly), you have to raise it up so that the glasses do not appear to be located beneath (...)
