Re: Range of RCX sound production

Hi Brian, I find your question very interesting. I do not have an audio analyzer, but I have a few ideas so you can extend your hunt. I'm told that you can get software that lets you use your sound card as an oscilliscope. All you need is a (...) (20 years ago, 18-Aug-04, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Assembling the HandyBoard

(...) You need that resistor to stabilize the crystal frequency. Try Radio Shack if it is missing from the kit. It doesn't have to be 1/8 watt, 1/4 or 1/2 watt is fine, just make sure it is 2.2 megaohm. (...) So far so good. (...) There is probably (...)   Re: Decoding Infrared receiver

Make sure that your modulating the transmision part with the correct frequency! When I built my handy board I tested the IR TX circuit and it gave me 57kHz instead of 40 kHz and I did use all the correct resistor capacitor values. I suggest that you (...)   Re: ir tower -> consumer electronics

(...) It's because of the hertz or frequency of the Mindstorms receiver. It can't quite pick up up right and there for causes errors. It also can't send out what it received because it didn't catch the entire system... It's the same reason we can't (...) (24 years ago, 27-Apr-00, to lugnet.robotics)

IrDA turns 'on' the IR for every 0 bit and holds it upfor ~ 1/2 of the period of the transmission frequency.(more on (URL) For these reasons its better to set the IrDA transmission frequency to 2x38kHz=76kHz and send 0x55 or other similar (...) (25 years ago, 1-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Firmware: IR transmission demystified

IR transmission was pretty tough to get at. Carrier frequency was the final key - there are no crystals to create the IR carrier, so the processor has to provide it.
