  Re: Infrared Detector

(...) The most common metal can IR detectors are made by Sharp. The older ones I have are marked GP1U5X2 (with pins coming out the back of the can), but the newer ones I have are part number GP1U58Y (and have pins coming out of the bottom of the (...)   Controlling motor speed/frequency

hi all does anyone know if there is a way where we can increase the output frequency of the motor PWM output? i did a test by typing " motor(0,50) " and connecting a probe to Motor 0 +ve and to the L293D gnd pin respectively. the reading on the (...)   RC Car question

I have a question about the new Remote Control car. Does it run on one standard frequency, or is the frequency variable? The only rc I have purchased in the past had two set frequencies, so we had to be sure to get the different frequency car if we (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Mindstorms SnooperBot

Thanks for the info. I am here in Canada. I am somewhat ignorant of frequency limits by CRTC (Canadian equivalent of the FCC). The unit can be tuned to braodcast in short range to the lower FM frequencies near 80-90 Mhz. Tom McDonald wrote in (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.build)

RE: About the elsema FMTR 2705

Michael, I have tried to use the Elsema radios without the modem chips but because 27Mhz is such a noisy frequency (at least here in Australia) I found that I got way to much interference when interfacing directly to TTL. The modem chips are really (...) (26 years ago, 8-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Mindstorms and FM Micro Transmitter

Have had some troubles with getting the receiver to hone in on the exact frequency (for now its 90.0 Mhz). If the receiver is in a different room, the FM transmitter has difficulties transmitting through walls etc. It needs more juice (only runs on (...)   RE: RCX transmitting on the IR over 2400

(...) 4800 baud is not always easy to achieve. Success is very dependent on what RCX vintage and which tower type you're using. Yo9u haven't mentioned what RCX programming system you're using and what is the message format you're using. If it is (...) (17 years ago, 10-Aug-07, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Someone on RTL sez that they all use the same frequency. :( It's possible though that there are several standard frequencies, and it was just bad luck that the ones tested were the same. (26 years ago, 25-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: Controling LEGO trains via Decta Control Lab

10Hz is nowhere near fast enough to control a train motor using PWM (pulse width modulation). You need at least 100Hz, and higher would be better. Any of your suggestions will vary the speed of a motor, but the most common is varying the duty cycle. (...) (26 years ago, 29-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: IR Detection

(...) The Sharp IR detector is designed to respond only to modulated IR signals. The card from Radio Shack will indicate whether the LED is illuminated, but it won't tell you whether it's modulated at the proper frequency. Perhaps that could be the (...)   Firmware: IR transmission demystified

IR transmission was pretty tough to get at. Carrier frequency was the final key - there are no crystals to create the IR carrier, so the processor has to provide it. It turns out that 8-bit t1 output is used for just that purpose. Guess I'll have to (...) (26 years ago, 9-Nov-98, to lugnet.robotics)

  Homebrew sensors?

I've been brainstorming for a while about what could be done with a kludge. I'm more into the whoosh-bang side of engineering than the beep-zap, so I don't know if it would work... A few years ago, Estes (the model rocket people) made a "rocket (...) (26 years ago, 13-Nov-98, to lugnet.robotics)
