Re: engine 48/Ladder 56 Webster Ave, Bronx NY

(...) Rocks. Why the diagonal entry? Prototype trucks have trouble with a right angle entry onto Manhattan streets? (turn radius and all that?) (23 years ago, 30-Apr-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Which Classic Space Set?

(...) Roger that. Gray is always good. (...) Gee I hope not! They were in light blue in Aquazone sets as recently as what, 3-4 years ago? It's a vacuum form mold so shouldn't wear out all that fast I wouldn't think. (23 years ago, 30-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Cease fire (was: Re: Peace in the Mid-East?)

(...) Oh ya, I agree. But it's what you're up against here in this newsgroup. Until you can make this case (at the meta level), you're stuck. And no one here has been at all effective at making that case in the past. c.f. what happened to me when I (...) (23 years ago, 30-Apr-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: BrickFest TimeSaver Layout

(...) I would strongly favor counting moves as uncoupling really could take a fair bit of variable time. I also would not penalise someone for accidentally recoupling right after uncoupling, it is SO easy with these speed regs to go in the wrong (...) (23 years ago, 30-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: BrickFest train events and displays

(...) Congrats. Tom sent me (as curator) an offline note about holding train related BrickFest discussions here, in the root of the trains.org hierarchy, asking my opinion. I wanted to say publicly that I think it's a good fit and we ought to (...) (23 years ago, 30-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains.org)

  Re: BrickFest TimeSaver Layout

(...) Note (to the uninitiated, everyone that knows who John Allen is already knows this) TimeSaver is a bit of a misnomer, it's really MOVEsaver, as in you are judged on total number of moves to solve the puzzle, not the elapsed time. A move is a (...) (23 years ago, 30-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: Cease fire (was: Re: Peace in the Mid-East?)

(...) I happen to agree with this viewpoint. It's nice and tidy and has a nice absolute finality to it. No equivocating. But it has a big problem. It opens one up to questioning one's own motives. People who want to assail one's position will (...) (23 years ago, 30-Apr-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
