Re: Cosmic Rendezvous - SciBrick Event Report

(...) (snip) Whoa! I think you've got the "most prestigious debut event" record nailed. Way to go, looks like you guys rocked the place. What a fantastic job for a first show, and it benefitted a great cause. Hats off to your organization. Kudos for (...) (21 years ago, 30-Oct-03, to lugnet.org.scibrick, FTX)

Grand Challenge autonomous navigation contest, 1M prize

I just found this and I thought it was pretty cool. The vehicles being used here are on the scale of things like older SUVs, not LEGO bots... but it's still cool. LA to Vegas over rough terrain, autonomously... winner (of 100ish teams entered) gets (...) (21 years ago, 29-Oct-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.robotics)

From your own picture, eyeballing the measurement by holding pencils up to the wheel and the ties below it and so forth, I get that the hub diameter is just a smidgeon below 4 studs across, while Jason of the green engine wants 3, which (...) If the material is published externally and editing causes it to seriously misrepresent what was said by another, that's certainly actionable... it's somewhere in the slander/libel/defamation of character area (...) (...) Seems pretty cut and dried to me. What rights did the posters purchase from the owner of the publishing venue (the owner of the privately owned BB)? Assuming the owner is in the US that's all that matters, posters nationality is irrelevant. (...) (21 years ago, 29-Oct-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) As soon as you and Jon have consensus (in this case, it being amicable) drop one of the metacurators a note and we'll take care of it, it's no problem. (...) Do things that people pay for. That's not supposed to be a smart aleck answer... the most common way is to be compensated for exhibiting at a show but it can also include creating things on commission or (potentially) selling things. (21 years ago, 29-Oct-03, to lugnet.org)
