  First steps ok

Hi! I'm extremely happy today, that I could start mounting my Hand Board. The reset chips arrived and now the only thing that's missing is the lcd, but it should arrive by next Monday. I've mounted the serial comm board and it worked ok, and I've (...) (26 years ago, 1-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

In response to: (...) Could a hardware expert (Fred?) please give a more definitive answer to this? What value resistor should be used?   Saturday Meet

Well, I deleted my directions (if there were any) to the Fremont Library for this Saturday's meeting cuz I thought I couldn't go. Now I can go. Yippee!   Re: HandyBoard Assembly

it seems like the HB is not able to talk back to your PC. make sure the TxD signal starting from the 'hc11 is leaving the HB properly at the RJ11, reaching the interface bd, and then being cvt'ed to -10v to +10v levels out the interface bd on its (...)   Expansion board test routine

Hello all, Well here it is, for what it's worth. The functions are pretty obvious, it works just like the original hbtest.c that Fred wrote. To try servos other than #5, you'll have to edit the line: servo5=(16*knob()); In the test_servo() routine. (...) (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Stupid multiple sonars...

I guess I have a really simple question to ask... I know that I can share many of the lines off of the SPI in order to hook up two polaroid sensors... However, is it really necessary to add a diode to each of the ECHO lines? If so, what are the (...) (26 years ago, 9-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

actually this is to be expected. with no load, the diodes produce no drop. if you're worried, try hooking a DC motor (or other real load -- light bulb, 10 ohm resistor, etc). across the servo motor supply and then measure the voltage. you should see (...) the fact that the two LEDs come on and then go off suggests that you *are* successfully putting the hc11 into download mode. it also happens that the hc11 TxD pin is in what's called "wired OR mode" during bootstrap. this means that it can only (...)
