Re: Thoughts on Battery-powered IR-controlled trains

(...) Also, for locomotices, the IR plate could be used on rolling stock pulled by a shorter loco (this is how most of the old 4.5v trains worked). Doesn't wor for trolleys though :( (...) Except the RCX will be obsolete in 6 months, and the NXT (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: New Moc: Boomslang

(...) First let me say, OmG! I was wondering if I was ever gonna a build anything you liked well enough to post about it. You honor me sir! I've been watching what you have been posting on the net since 2000. Second, believe it or not, those are (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: localization (was re: GPS)

I've always been partial to ultrasonic rangefinding. It's not too difficult indoors under controlled circumstances. The old Nintendo PowerGlove used this technique. For robot localization, you'd probably want a minimum of three non-moving marker (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Yeerp, I did mutliate those...rather sloppy job at that, heh. Well, it's not as bad as most people might think, quite a few people I know go crazy with their X-acto knives. I don't have quite as much Lego as I like, so I only have a handful of (...) (18 years ago, 10-Aug-06, to lugnet.people, FTX)

  Re: 4x4 Tic Tac Toe...

(...) It may be deterministic, but I doubt many could fit the entire solution tree into an RCX. How about making time a factor. In a cat's game, the faster playing bot wins (would need a way to time accurately, though). I think the complexity of (...) (18 years ago, 10-Aug-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) That sounds pretty interesting as a GBA is a decent controller compared to celphone buttons. But, is there a programming language that covers enough celphones? This would make that project more practical for the range of impact. There is (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Just out of interest, who'd going to sell their old Mindstorms stuff. According to the Wired article, the new NXT series sets won't be compatible with the old Mindstorms stuff which is a bit alarming. It makes me wonder if it is worth holding onto (...)   Re: Thoughts on Battery-powered IR-controlled trains

  modding the new IR trains

I just finished making one of these. (URL) it is huge, and quite well detailed. (...) I've never used LNPd, but since it's old enough to have "legOS" as its first letter, then it must support the serial IR tower. If no one else has info for you, you might consider buying one.
