  Resale shops / whose been geting your brick buck this year?
 
Forgive me if this has been discussed already,(I did a search, but it's a topic with many possible names) but I was thinking recently about where I buy my LEGO, and I realized that this year a significant portion has been purchased at resale shops. Yes, as we can see Kiddicraft was the pre-cursor to the Lego brick. Back in 1949-50 they had only 5 colors of Lego bricks, red, white, yellow, light green, and what can best be described as "peacock blue". By 1950 TLG was releasing to their Danish (...) I'm not at BrickFest.. I was wondering if I could participate in the Lego store shopping event by phone, since I did register and all. Just didn't quite make it there. I have recently come into possesion of a set of Kiddicraft self-locking building bricks. It is complete and the box is intact, though the cardboard is in rough shape. I live in Chicago so there are dozens of resale shops, and enough affluence that alot of folks just prefer to drop it off for that warm-fuzzy-feeling and tax write off rather than bother with Ebay. (...) This would be a guess: 45% pick-a-brick/S@H Bulk/factory 50% Bricklink 5% New sets (usually small sets, ie: Racers, when I am at Target for other non lego items) I very rarely buy used bricks.   Brown backpacks in Shell set!
 
Pardon me if this is old news to everyone, but I missed out on the last batch of Shell promo sets and was quite thrilled to see that set #3 came with a brown backpack, along with a brown 8x8 plate and four 1x4 log cabin-style bricks. Mr. Glennon: Based upon a) the terrific piece count/price ratio of current Megablok sets, and b) the large amounts of basic bricks in these sets, I'd say that Megablok's marketing research has led them to the opposite conclusion.   MOC: Danish IC4 passenger train
 
Hey, My latest creation is the new Danish IC4 intercity train. The Danish State Railways (DSB) has ordered 84 train units from Italian company Ansaldo Breda, but so far the delivery has been delayed by more than a year for various reasons. This (...)
