  Re: Peeron Memory Upgrade

(...) Hi Dan, Yes, it does seem quite a bit faster for me when I search. Looks like the upgrade was definitely effective! Kelly (18 years ago, 4-Feb-07, to lugnet.db.inv, FTX)

malloc() bug found -- BAD MEMORY REGION :-(

It looks like it's not a bug in legOS, but in the RCX hardware: Memory from 0xfb80 to 0xfd7f is simply NOT WRITEABLE, or more exactly, always read as 0xff, at least on my RCX ! Try the following little test: // // memory test // #include <conio.h> (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

(...) I'm not sure what you mean by this. Ldglite only creates one structure in memory per part file. It's quite frugal with the memory when you use the L3 Parser. Thanks, Lars. I think I've displayed datsville in ldglite on a PC with as little as (...) (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Memory

I have to admit I actually don't know all that much about robotics itself. The mindstorms are my first foray into robotic creation and programming. I just thought it would be helpful to point out the memory limitation in the H8/300. In that respect, (...) (26 years ago, 8-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics)

The version with a main menu bar and toolbar at the top has menu shortcuts which do work but in the NXT image version (with no main menu) the shortcuts do not work. Or, at least, they did not (...)   Re: Expanding the memory of the handyboard

Dear Kevin, Please forgive this non-answering of your question, but I am curious as to what kinds of hardware projects/software objectives were your students working on when they ran out of 'hc11 memory, and how did they deal with this circumstance? yes, memory wires should be oscillating, back and forth betw 0 and 5 volts. this is not floating; floating implies not connected. re: your other DL probs, usually, it is a bad connection on the PCB. try continuity checks on the memory subsystem.   Re: SPI ram

Anthony, A easier way to get 8K of EEPROM memory is to use Microchip Technology 25C640 Serial SPI EEPROM Memory. This is a 8 pin DIP device with a built in SPI interface. Cost is about $3 each.   Re: How much memory finally?

(...) I believe it has a 16K ROM and 32K SRAM. Within the 32K, 16K is occupied by the 'firmware' downloaded to the RCX. About 6K is reserved for bytecode program space and the datalog. Presumably the rest is working memory for the firmware (stack, (...) (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
