I have to admit I actually don't know all that much about robotics
itself.  The mindstorms are my first foray into robotic creation and
programming.  I just thought it would be helpful to point out the memory
limitation in the H8/300.  In that respect, can anyone reccommend a book
or website that has good information on the art of robotics?  I'd also
like to know the name of a good, comprehensive, Artifical Intelligence
book, if anyone has a suggestion.

Thanks,

This is a good point.  I admit it, I spend a LOT of time trying to find
ways to increase the range of my RCX.  To date, I've actually spent more
time building new input/output devices than I have actually building and
programming robots.

But, even stock, this is one powerful little box for it's size.  People
have done much bigger projects with much more limited computers (various
aspects of the Apollo missions come to mind).  While it's fun to find
ways to extend the RCX, the place where users will really shine is
making it do interesting things working within the limitations
presented.

I posted this link to a book on sensors and effectors for robots. This book, which you can download for free, contains nearly 300 pages with *great* illustrations. It's a pretty weighty tome, though (comes in at over 13.5MB, but is in PDF (Adobe (...) (26 years ago, 8-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics)
