Re: RCX & RIS, a fading glory?

(...) That's pretty depressing - if Spybotics don't make money, Mindstorms is doomed - and if Spybotics does make money Mindstorms *is* Spybotics...so we're still doomed. (...) What I wanted to see happen would have solved that problem quite neatly. (...) (22 years ago, 29-Jan-03, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Proximity detection?

Thanks for the reply, André. I've read that the IR emitters are "low-power". Does this mean the red LED on Spybot would have a longer range than the IR emitters if used in proximity detection? Since the LED is recessed, I guess is would have a (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.robotics.spybotics)

(...) Did you try to fix communication port instead of using automatic configuration ? On my machine (Win2000) where I have both a serial Spybotics cable and a RIS USB tower, I have to specify the port that BricxCC must use.   Re: New LEGO photos from Toy Fair 2003

Has anyone else noticed how Lego is now cleverly guiding innocent create'n'builders surely and slowly into being hardcore technic builders?   Re: Spybotics to RCX message

(...) If you use BricxCC to compile your MindScript code it is very easy to get LASM output. On the Compilers tab of the Preferences dialog just add -TRACE=15 to the Switches field on the LCC page.   Re: RCX & RIS, a fading glory?

(...) This is an interesting idea, but I think a bad one. The software should stay where it is now, in the software. Putting the software in hardware just creates the need to buy even more bricks. On the surface, that seems like a good think for (...) (22 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.robotics)

Unfortunately, it seems that TLC doesn't have a clear idea of what to do with Mindstorms in general. Their support for the whole line has been less than full - note the failure to update software for their cameras beyond Win98. I've been using the (...)
