Re: time sampling under the rcx standard OS

(...) From what I've seen, the standard firmware takes about 3ms per command, and the same program will run on BrickOS about 100 times faster. I usually set up my BrickOS programs so they use the internal timer, and only update the motor setting (...) (19 years ago, 17-Sep-05, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

(...) So in theory, once the open-source firmware is released it could be hacked to support interfacing with the sound system in other ways (such as playing compressed mpg/ogg files or sound stream data)? (18 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  New Newsgroup Please

I'd like to create a new robotics newsgroup for the new RCX replacement firmware. if you agree, can you make this happen please? Right now, I've been posting on lugnet.robotics but I've had some feedback about the messages being too long. Apparently (...) (20 years ago, 26-Dec-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Interesting BrickOS Timing Results

This was a terrific analysis. It's not surprizing that current implementation hogs so much CPU time. If all four A/D channels are scanned every 150 us then the A/D interrupt is occuring every 37.5 us since each A/D channel generates its own (...)   what Operating systems are there for the RCX?

hi all, i realise this is not strictly legOS related, but you guys are the best source i have so i thought id give it a shot anyways. Im trying to list all the options i have for changing the original "OS" and firmware. so far i have: NQC (doesnt (...) (23 years ago, 3-Oct-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Re: Question about RIS version differences

(...) All 1.0's have the 9v external power jack. Early 1.5's also had the external power jack (mine did!) Later 1.5's and all 2.0's seen so far do not have an external jack. Aside from that, the three RCX's appear to be identical. RIS 1.0 and 1.5 (...) (23 years ago, 30-Oct-01, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: RCX transmitting on the IR over 2400

(...) 4800 baud is not always easy to achieve. Success is very dependent on what RCX vintage and which tower type you're using. Yo9u haven't mentioned what RCX programming system you're using and what is the message format you're using. If it is (...) (17 years ago, 10-Aug-07, to lugnet.robotics)
