  RC racer sets

LEGO's online store has three RC sets, (URL), (URL) 8369>, and (URL) 8475> (currently unavailable). There's also a Radio Shack exclusive, (URL) 8376>. 8369 is brand new, and its description says "The first LEGO Racers RC car that can conquer the (...)   Shop@Home website

Would you please make the clickable images larger? They are only 384x288 pixels, which is pretty small. I want to see super-up-close detail, so give us some higher resolution photos, please! (20 years ago, 11-Aug-04, to lugnet.dear-lego) !

(...) That's good to hear. Right after I made the original post on LUGNET I went to the LEGO website and filled in their feedback form, too. So LEGO's getting the comment from two places. (20 years ago, 12-Aug-04, to lugnet.dear-lego)

What's this? A motorized Harry Potter train?

I was looking through the newest catalog and noticed that there's a redesigned Harry Potter train that actually works on LEGO 9V tracks! I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but I do like LEGO trains, so back when the original set was released (4708) I (...) (20 years ago, 15-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.harrypotter, lugnet.dear-lego)

  4512 is great to modify

I got a 4512 Cargo Train yesterday. It's my second train set, and I really like it. It derails on tight curves, though, but then you wouldn't expect a cargo train to be flying down the track anyway. I noticed while building the engine that it was (...) (20 years ago, 20-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: SHOTTLE!

From the Count's website: "You don’t just have to put ships inside. For example, you could make little rooms/habitats that fit inside each container. Using the six Technic axel holes on the outer side of the lid (which still accept axels even with (...) (20 years ago, 27-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Shop-at-Home website improvements! (LARGER images!)

I want to say THANK YOU for finally getting decent-sized images on the Shop-at-Home website. They have really good quality and I'm able to see fine detail. Some of the images are better than the ones in the printed catalogs. The site layout is (...) (20 years ago, 14-Sep-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, FTX)

  Magnetic sensor

I was reading posts in RTL and found one about a LEGO robotics summer camp selling a bunch of their stuff. They have a nice little magnetic field sensor on sale: (URL) Putting one of these under a track could easily sense when a train was passing (...)   Re: The Great Ball Contraption

What's funny is the other day I was thinking of building a marble machine with LEGO. After reading about this contraption system, I got super-motivated and built myself a ball pump last night. I only spent a few hours on it, but I think I have it (...) (20 years ago, 20-Jan-05, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

(...) I don't know if it fits into the standard or not. I didn't plan on using it as my first device, anyway. I'm going to build a simple large hopper for the previous person's contraption to feed into mine, and then I'll have a feed chute or (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jan-05, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

(...) I'm using two upside-down 1x16 TECHNIC beams to straddle 24-tooth gears on each end (see my great ASCII art below, top-down view, not to scale). I might not even need tension in the chain at all; the tread links slide on the flat bottom part (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jan-05, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

  "LEGOLAND - A Half-Life 2 Modification" needs a new name!

Greetings, LEGO fans! I joined LUGNET in 2003 partly to (URL) get volunteers> to work on a LEGO-themed computer game. Mike Rayhawk of (URL) BrikWars> fame kindly joined the team, and together we and the other team members who came along set up what (...) (...) Thanks! (...) When a piece detaches from your minifig's body, you will have to wait a few seconds before you can reattach it. That's the current plan. During that time it's more than likely you will become separated from whatever it is you (...) (20 years ago, 11-Mar-05, to lugnet.gaming, FTX)

What should you do with a stuck motor?

Last night I had a new-style 9V motor attached directly to a 40-tooth gear that was turning an 8-tooth gear. There was a fair amount of torque involved, and my motor stalled after a while. Now the thing won't turn unless I really force it. What (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-05, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

  Avoiding motor stalls

I broke another 9V motor. See my (URL) post> for the first story. I'm building what amounts to a pitching machine for the Great Ball Contraption. In most TECHNIC building you're building a gear train to produce lots of power at the expense of speed. (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jul-05, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

  Re: Avoiding motor stalls

I thought of something else. I'm testing this thing with an RCX, and could it be that as the batteries get weaker the motor loses power, which makes stalls even more dangerous? (19 years ago, 9-Jul-05, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Avoiding motor stalls

Update: there are now two motors driving this thing. They each have an 8 tooth gear that turn a 40-tooth gear placed between them -- instant torque, but less output speed. (...) Hmmmm. I have but one of the ungeared 9V motors, and I'm using it in a ball pump, but I will try swapping motors.
