Maybe that's irrational, but it pains me to see things like servo motors and ugly exposed circuit boards attached to LEGO. Even if a device is hidden inside (...) | | Weird RCX electrical ideas
|
| I'd like to share two thoughts with you all. They involve the RCX and doing things with it that I'm sure the designers never intended (or thought possible). Oh, if you're reading this in the .trains newsgroup, you can skip over the first thought (...) (21 years ago, 1-Sep-03, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.trains, FTX)

| I'd like to know all the different LEGO robotics challenges you've seen or heard about. If anyone knows of a comprehensive list that already exists, please give me a link to it. | Last year I taught two computer classes at Fond du Lac Christian School in Fond du Lac, WI. One of them had only four students, three seniors and one junior. Near the end of the semester I gave them a LEGO robotics challenge. I finally got around to (...) (21 years ago, 28-Aug-03, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

| | Re: RCX & RIS, a fading glory?
|
| I'm getting one for Christmas. The pneumatic parts in it are the new style, though. That means the big cylinders no longer have that "brick" at the bottom of them to attach to studs. All there is now is the Technice hole at the bottom. (21 years ago, 21-Aug-03, to lugnet.robotics)

| Yes, you are on to something. Many industrial robots are "programmed" in much the same way. The operator "teaches" it which movements to make using manual controls, and then the robot can do those movements over and over again without error. In the (...) | I like it. Is there any chance you'd provide some instructions or have a parts list? With a project that big it probably isn't worth the trouble to do that, though. How about the code for the program it's running? (21 years ago, 17-Aug-03, to lugnet.technic, FTX)
