Re: Any FPS or RTS AFOL modders out there?

(...) I started a Half-Life 2 mod two years ago called Block Party. Search the lugnet.gaming newsgroup for its older name, LEGOLAND, and you'll find the other posts about it. (URL) Look for a (very) limited release in a few weeks. -Jordan Bradford (19 years ago, 29-Aug-05, to lugnet.gaming, FTX)

  "LEGOLAND - A Half-Life 2 Modification" needs a new name!

Greetings, LEGO fans! I joined LUGNET in 2003 partly to (URL) get volunteers> to work on a LEGO-themed computer game. Mike Rayhawk of (URL) BrikWars> fame kindly joined the team, and together we and the other team members who came along set up what (...)   Re: The Great Ball Contraption

(...) I'm using two upside-down 1x16 TECHNIC beams to straddle 24-tooth gears on each end (see my great ASCII art below, top-down view, not to scale). I might not even need tension in the chain at all; the tread links slide on the flat bottom part (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jan-05, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

  Re: The Great Ball Contraption

(...) I don't know if it fits into the standard or not. I didn't plan on using it as my first device, anyway. I'm going to build a simple large hopper for the previous person's contraption to feed into mine, and then I'll have a feed chute or (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jan-05, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

  Re: The Great Ball Contraption

What's funny is the other day I was thinking of building a marble machine with LEGO. After reading about this contraption system, I got super-motivated and built myself a ball pump last night. I only spent a few hours on it, but I think I have it (...) (20 years ago, 20-Jan-05, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

  Magnetic sensor

I was reading posts in RTL and found one about a LEGO robotics summer camp selling a bunch of their stuff. They have a nice little magnetic field sensor on sale: (URL) Putting one of these under a track could easily sense when a train was passing (...)   Shop-at-Home website improvements! (LARGER images!)

I want to say THANK YOU for finally getting decent-sized images on the Shop-at-Home website. They have really good quality and I'm able to see fine detail. Some of the images are better than the ones in the printed catalogs. The site layout is (...) (20 years ago, 14-Sep-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, FTX)

  Re: Avoiding motor stalls

Jordon, Its hard to say for sure, but it looks like you are losing torque in the gear conversions. The clutch is a good idea, but will still strain the motor when it comes to crunch time. There are two things that I can think of to help you. 1 - (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jul-05, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: SHOTTLE!

  4512 is great to modify

I got a 4512 Cargo Train yesterday. It's my second train set, and I really like it. It derails on tight curves, though, but then you wouldn't expect a cargo train to be flying down the track anyway. I noticed while building the engine that it was (...) (20 years ago, 20-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

What's this? A motorized Harry Potter train?

I was looking through the newest catalog and noticed that there's a redesigned Harry Potter train that actually works on LEGO 9V tracks! I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but I do like LEGO trains, so back when the original set was released (4708) I (...) (20 years ago, 15-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.harrypotter, lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) That's good to hear. Right after I made the original post on LUGNET I went to the LEGO website and filled in their feedback form, too. So LEGO's getting the comment from two places. (20 years ago, 12-Aug-04, to lugnet.dear-lego)
