  Re: mindstorms NXT

(...) I'm talking about stuff like this: (URL) for the start-up pack, which is for eight paired students. The Team Challenge with USB set is $200, and you get four of them. That's still just $800, so there's another $450 worth of stuff. 4 extra (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Mindstorms NXT programming languages

(...) Besides trying to hack the USB port to make it a host (which seems more unlikely the more I read), and besides trying to use Bluetooth to talk to my Gameboy Advance (and vice-versa), I'd also like to tackle something like the RCX.NET project.   Where should the 100 NXT testers' findings be shown?

Is it likely that all 100 of the people chosen for early NXT testing will know of LUGNET and post their findings here? Should LEGO set up a forum on legofan.org or mindstorms.com? How about nxtbot.com? It would be nice to have a single place to get (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.dear-lego, FTX)

  Re: mindstorms NXT and memory

(...) Do you mean machine code (binary) or assembly language? I first learned assembly language programming on a MIPS chip (RISC). I've also done it on a Motorola 68HC11 (a microcontroller), and I've written both pure machine code and assembly (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

  Re: mindstorms NXT and memory

(...) You forget LEGO already did that with the Scout in the Robotics Discovery Set. But perhaps it was too limited for people to want to buy it. If the NXT has a memory expansion slot inside it that would satisfy quite a few people I think. (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

(...) Or with a GameBoy Advance with the wireless link peripheral (uses Bluetooth). It's not a common piece of hardware, but some of the newer Pokemon games come with it. I think about 15 games support it currently. Anyway, my GBA is one thing I'll (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: LNPd with USB Tower - success?

(...) I've never used LNPd, but since it's old enough to have "legOS" as its first letter, then it must support the serial IR tower. If no one else has info for you, you might consider buying one. Pitsco sells it new for $31.00: (URL) can get them (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Re: Using NXT in a name - legal?

(...) Is the RCX.NET project's name technically a trademark violation? I just started working with José David Parra on a redesign of his original namespace, so now maybe he'll have to rename it, too. :) What's LEGO's position on code namespaces, (...) (...) NeXT Software was the company, NeXTcube and NeXTstation were the two machines, and NeXTSTEP was the OS. After Apple acquired NeXT (it's more the other way around, actually), a lot of the NeXTSTEP features carried over into Mac OS X, such as (...) (19 years ago, 30-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

(...) Well, technically, 1 + 1 = 2, or in binary, 1 + 1 = 10. The sum isn't 0, the S output is 0. ‹/nitpicks› This stuff is cool. I like your mechanical logic gates better than the pneumatic ones I've seen. Yours are definitely cheaper to build. (19 years ago, 10-Mar-06, to lugnet.technic, FTX)
