Pretty ironic isn't it? LEGO release their Silver Champion (Mika Hakkinen's McLaren/Mercedes 'Silver Arrow') and only weeks later the McLaren boys loose both driver's and constructor's championships.... (...) Absolutely right. On the other hand, the reason why Tolkien's stuff is so much better than the scads of imitators is because it's a 'first-generation copy' rather than second or third. There are many "medieval fantasies" that are not derivatives of Tolkien, but the demand for them wouldn't exist if not for Tolkien. Undoubtedly there are some less original (...) The WOT (Wheel Of Time) books are IMHO the best fantasy literature out there, The lord of the rings trilogy comes pretty close but it just doesn't have the vivid descriptions that are characteristic of WOT books.
