Re: I'm Through Coloring Inside the Lines for Awhile...

I think 14 hours is typical build time for the Technic Space Shuttle. I actually was disappointed when it was finished, because I was having so much fun building it. The "Aha!" moments were wonderful! I intentionally took time to savor every step. (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: IC trouble - function definition

(...) whoa! Local function definitions. Even GCC doesn't grok that. Try extracting the function definition phony() from start() like so: long time; void phony() { while (digital(2) == 1) { time = mseconds(); } } void start() { phony(); } -d (...)   Re: IC trouble - function definition

[John Bachman] spake unto the ether: (...) You have the definition of phony() nested inside the definition of start(). I don't know what ANSI C and/or C++ let you do, but this is invalid IC. You need something like: long time; void start() { (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: RIS 1.0 to 1.5 software upgrade

Rich, I originally thought that the free upgrade was a software only upgrade. I thought that's what I saw on the MindStorms web site several months ago. I was surprised when I received the free upgrade to get the full upgrade kit that sells for (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics)

Re: What is pictured in the inset by the MF on page 8?

(...) I just took a little trip to Target and purchased a snowspeeder just to see if I would have any luck finding a lego 2000 catalogue. Alas I did! I took a real close look at the picture and it is some sort of vehicle with a 2x wide windshield (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) on a red stud, with a metal axle and a black brick. I got 'em with the Grimace racer and the Chicken car. They may be in one or more of the new "classic" basic sets and/or buckets. That's all folks, Aaron (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Silver bricks

Good Luck ! TLG included one silver brick in each of the 25th Anniv bulk buckets / tubs. Set numbers were in the range 3025-3030 with 3029 & 3030 being duplo sized. So you would have to locate quite a number of tubs/buckets or find someone selling (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.castle)

Re: I'm Through Coloring Inside the Lines for Awhile...

I, too, buy LEGO sets for the parts, but I normally build the main model anyway. If it's a small model, I try to build it without looking at the instructions. When the model is built, I tear it down again almost immediately and sort the pieces into (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: IC trouble - function definition

Thanks for all the helpful device but the darned thing still does not work. I have created a simplified program to try to figure out what I am doing wrong.   Never too old to play with Lego.

I found an article in Computer Games magazine about mindstorms the very last sentence is: "After all your never too old to play with Lego blocks, you're just required to make fancier stuff." If only TLG (TLC?) had this mentality. (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Wheels

Thanks for the info, Mark. And bugger. You don't know how much this is going to hurt my pride. I CAN'T STAND INSECTOIDS! My collection has so far been blissfully free of them - despite several near half price offers I've seen. Now it appears that I (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

Doh! Frogot to add you OH guys (Chicago Legofest)

As I posted my notice for the hopefully upcoming Chicago Legofest, I forgot to include the OH local group.
