(...) Oh, and I just realized I actually have 2 4559's. The other one is new in a sealed box. (25 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

  Re: stupid question

(...) ...and even more so because he's actually posting a new thread to ask how to post a new thread, rather silly when you stop to think about it. D'oh! LFB. (25 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.promo)

How to Post (was: "stupid question")

(...) To be fair, the original question should be answered here for the record. You must "drill down" to a specific newsgroup in order to post. (Choose from the list of links at the top of the page.) Once you are down in the hierarchy at least one (...) (25 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.promo)

  Re: stupid question

(...) Wow, that's violating one of the core rules of behaviour for discussion groups. Here's what it sounds like to us: Hey, I can't figure this out, so I want one of you people to help me. Oh, but don't post it here, because my time is too valuable (...) (25 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.promo)

  Re: Engine Speed Regulation

Well, James corrected me and he's right(1). The Throttle is a restrictor (if you look up throttle, one meaning is to cut off airflow) in the steamline. Restricting the flow reduces the pressure in the steam chest. However most valve gear (cf. (...) (25 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.trains)

  Bulkhead Flat  [DAT]

Here's one more. MLCad is addicting! This is a bulkhead flat, used in the US for loads that don't need weather protection, but which are large enough or high enough that there is a danger of them shifting off the ends of the car, hence the end (...)   Re: idiot's guide to programming the rcx

(...) The almost universal answer to the question "what is the best/easiest alternative programming language for the RCX" is three little letters: "NQC."   Re: Castle 2000 Eye-candy

(...) The odd secret door, trap door, or even Willa the Witch isn't a bad thing. The bad thing is when these elements, which should *only* be novelties, become the bread and butter of the theme. I think most of us would agree that such trends mean (...) (25 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.castle)
