JPEG compression (was: Re: One of the Mindfest pics)

(...) Speaking of JPEG compression, here's a comparison of JPEG (lossy) vs. TIFF (non-lossy) for three images: (3 URLs) the last of the three pages contains several megabytes of inline images. --Todd (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

First batch of captioned NELUG Mindfest pic's done.

Well the first batch of Sorted and Captioned Mindfest pic's are done. I have finished the NELUG table page and a People page with Captions so you can finally see who some of these people are. Unfortunately we still are missing a ton of people (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.org.us, lugnet.loc.us.ma.bos, lugnet.people, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.starwars)

  Free (empty) Buckets

I have about 20 empty buckets (from old brick and freestyle sets) that need to go. If anyone local wants them we can arrange to meet at some convenient place. Otherwise, I'll have to throw most of them out. KL (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.loc.us.dc)

  Re: "Improved" Web site!

Man that was so much fun. Unfortunately, I was too busy running my mouth to notice the free-for-all that it degenerated to at the end. I did get a bunch of slopes and tiles and of course the 5 R2D2 bodies. Next year I think I'll bring one of those (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Check out the SW website!!

(...) It seems when they "flesh" out a fictional character they are never what you imagine. You should see some of the poor attempts at Lara Croft down here. If that's the best they can do then they haven't looked too far. She looks like Two Face's (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: 8226 Mud Masher - Mini Review

The Mud Masher was one of the first Technic sets I bought following MindStorms (after my dark age). I think it is a bit expensive for what it is, but the design is very cool. This model ranks with the very most 'playable' LEGO models of all! Build (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.reviews)

  lego Technic "class"

Hey, am I the first to post here? Cool! A few weeks ago I started running a Technic building session once a week for 2 hours at my daughter's school. This is an alternative school (non-coercive academically) where parents volunteer half a day a (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.edu)

  Re: Different fonts in webpages

Or perhaps at your front page, suggest that folks download the font and provide a link to it. That is what I did with Verdana a couple of years ago. I suspect most folks have picked up since then. It is a Great Font! Of course Papyrus looks good as (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.publish)

Has anybody tried to make the Asland Plaza Hotel?

I'm kind of curious if anybody has made it or something close to it. If so could somebody mail it to me? I need to make a hotel and I need some ideas. (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.loc.us.ky, lugnet.build)

Antony Furneaux wrote in message ... (...) like to get this (...) have good or bad (...) IMHO, I have enjoyed the set. The steering works well (ball joints included). The only complaint I have, as usual, is the stickers. I did not put mine on. Eric (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.technic)

Tutorials and materials for teaching Lego robotics

NOTE: This discussion started in lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc when Mark Overmars in the Netherlands asked "What would we like to see added to his RcxCC (Rcx Command Center for NQC)?" But this ended up being an example of the Education-oriented questions (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.edu)

Re: What should be in the next version of RcxCC

Mark, even though it's "Not Quite RcxCC", are you open to more 'features' in your tutorial "Programming Lego Robots using NQC" ?? (Looking for URL... mmmm..) found at: (URL) is more related to the 'Education' stuff we've been talking about (and will (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

Re: Questions regarding a conceptual cargo elevator.

I do not know of any set that has an abundance of worm segments. I would suggest buying the service pack 5229. There are two segments in each pack along with several gears. The pack is available at Shop at Home Lego 1-800-453-4652. This is for USA. (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Hey, don't forget about JVZ II -- he managed to score at least 10, maybe 20, grey 2x2 convex-corner sloped bricks...I was drooooling at the sight of that! Me, I built a "Timmy launcher" and came home with an fair supply of dark gray 2xN (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)
