  Re: Ohio get together??

I'm relatively new to the whole Lugnet scene, but I'd be interested in meeting some fellow Lego enthusiasts around the city/state. I'm in Westlake, a suburb of Cleveland, so obviously I'd prefer it being up here.   Re: AI and even more exiciting stuff

(...) Here in Karlsruhe, engineering education is 95% math in the first year, and at least 60% in the second. Never mind your major - you're doing maths. Linear algebra, real and complex analysis of multiple variables, numerics, stochastics, (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Busy-Bee has 6347 Monorail Accessory Track!

(...) One thing you could get, I don't know what else you might need, but Mario Ferrari posted me a list of old service packs available from LEGO in Italy. One of them is 5040 Monorail 9v Motor for Space Track. (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.trains)

Re: AI and even more exiciting stuff / off-topic

(...) Ah, I almost forgot. I saw an applet somewhere on the University network that translates some higher language, possibly C or a subset of Java, into output suitable for universal turing machines. Not quite the performance king, but interesting. (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Busy-Bee has 6347 Monorail Accessory Track!

(...) However, given that I am not concerned about actually possessing one of the boxed sets, just want to build a monorail, could I use this accessory set to start building a monorail of my own invention? Say buy a couple of track sets, use a 9volt (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.trains)

Re: Busy Bee - in the flesh

(...) Blimey - how did you manage to find that buried in a web site that appears to have nothing to do with Lego? That's a good picture though. Simon (URL) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.uk)

RE: AI and even more exiciting stuff

(...) Right you are. I guess I wasn't clear headed when I wrote my original response. I wanted to say that engineering (or CS) students shuold learn about fixed point methods at some point in their academic careers. The earlier the better. I was (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: What´s new at www.lego.com ?

(...) There is a 5th skill which is moderately valueable, but you can get away with, which I would treat as separate: technogeek. I would actually argue that the technogeek is what was allowed to wag the dog here. (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.publish)

  Web page pictures up

I've just about finished adding more stuff to my Lego web pages, at (URL) anyone who wants to know what some of us UK mob look like there are pictures from our recent Southern UK Legofest (along with links to where Huw Millington, Michael Huffman (...)   Re: Busy Bee - in the flesh

(...) Now we all know why it sounds so chaotic when we call... Actually I had a hint of its size from a picture I found on the web: (URL) down to "page 9" and click on Busy Bee Toy Shop. (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.uk)

RE: AI and even more exiciting stuff

(...) Depends exactly what you're teaching in the class, and how much time you have. Spending a session teaching fixed point math may well mean that you have to miss out a useful AI tool. If the students already understand how to call, say (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Busy-Bee has 6347 Monorail Accessory Track!

Check out the picture on Huw Millington's promotional site: (URL) up 1831, of course). The truck's a beauty, well worth buying. I got a copy from NZ so I probably won't order any from Busy Bee, but recommend it highly! Alan (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.trains)

Re: Data acquisition through analog input

Dear Mr. Kalyan, Maybe you can try those RF module from www.Glalab.com Look for their guide on connecting the holtek IC to their RF module. I believe that will help you a lot. Regards, William (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Annoying Journalist's Request

To the list: this morning is a break for me, so I'm going to use it to type this out. Hope no one minds that it gets sent to the "annoying journalist" as well. Here at Duke, we are teaching a class with the mindstorms. Recently, we completed a class (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Re: Ohio get together??

Hi, I'm up for a get-together, too. I'll even go to Cleveland for one. If any other Columbus people need a ride, let me know. I'd like for it to be soon, but not before Halloween. Maybe we could have a building contest, that is build something (to (...)   RE: AI and even more exiciting stuff

(...) OK, time to get out the soapbox. If you are trying to teach AI, and are using floating point math, then you probably have really fast computers with floating point processors that are sometimes quicker than equivalent fixed point calcs......   Re: need a text editor
