New SW Lego Design Contest Info and Website

I've added a lot of stuff recently in addition to completely redesigning the site. I still have a lot of entries that I have not had time to setup yet. But I will soon, so don't worry if you sent in something and haven't seen it up yet. Here is a (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: The beginings of my modular Star Wars base.

Very stunning models. Nice work. However your pages load painfully slow. Excruciatingly slow, even. I believe you have made the same error that Paul Foster did with his GMLTC thumbs. Here's a snippet of your source. <A (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.publish)

Re: number and letter bricks (was: Re: When should the 2000 Catalogue Appear?)

I believe these are the really huge 2x2 duplo stud tiles. I considered getting a set but could not determine what I would use such huge letters for... (...) However, if they ARE the small, printed on the side of a 1x1 brick size like what Gary is (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

And check out the funky ersatz Ronald! Or is that the way he looks in europe? Must be he's not getting enough vitamins, his hair seems a little flat... (...)   Re: Light Sensor in Mindstorms

The sensor uses two semiconductor devices (that's as technical as I'll get, hopefully). One of them is light sensing and the other is light producing. The sensor works by sending out some light and then sensing how much of that light is reflected (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Lugnet Newsgroups Anniversary!

(...) Heck, I'll go farther. I will nominate Todd for the Nobel Prize, he's obviously increased world piece (count). (what, it's for world PEACE?? never mind) (...) Ditto. But she's doing Heavy Research so that's an OK tradeoff. (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general)

  Light Sensor in Mindstorms

Could somebody explain in layman's terms how the light sensor works? Thanks! Bryan (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Could somebody use this program?

legOS runs fine under the cygwin environment in NT- I finally even tried it myself :) Was there a specific problem that you were having in the porting? The cygnus install is not straightforward- I'll be the first to admit that- but if you are (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I think it absolutely terrible that you have created the slow torturous death of RTL. :') It has exceeded my wildest expectations.   DUPLO at McDonalds too...and a rebate coupon

In the Duplo advertisement/catalog I received today, it mentions there will also be a Duplo toy available at McDonalds in the happy meals. There is no picture. It also mentions "a special $3.00 LEGO rebate inside every LEGO McDonalds model". The ad (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.announce)

  Re: Good vs. Evil

Reminds me of the time I left a variety of aquanauts, pirate, and town sets laying round my student halls of residence. Over the course of a couple weeks, the pirates monkey managed to abscond up a (real) bonsai tree with the treasure, and a good (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Reply to "New Star Wars LEGO"

I would asume that the desingers at lego have been working unofficaly if not officaly on starwars style desings. The probably just found the new ep1 as the perfect opertunity to culminate them and ride the hype like every one else. Obviously they (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Brown Forestmen

(...) I would expect that if it were the case that the forestmen fig was *intended* to be brown, that the arms at least would easily be distinguishable from the red, since the arms are actually made from the same ABS plastic as the other brown lego (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.castle)
