  Second BayLUG get-together (8/99) summary

The Fremont Library continued to be a fine place for a public meeting. This time, we found the room set up with only two tables, and lots of chairs facing the windows, so we learned two things; - where the tables are kept, if we need more ;-) - (...)   Re: A neat little pattern

Thanks, John. It's amazing the things that happen when you just play around. :) I am planing on trying this with a couple of other tiles. If they work as well as I hope, I'll post those as well.   RE: putting liquid into pneumatic elements (was Re: Darn those definitions (was: The new Super Car)

My first Technic set was the Yellow JCB earth mover. After taking it apart to build my own model ( a claw and arm I think). I got water in the cylinders by accident. Shortly after that the seal on the inside failed and they became useless. I advise (...) (25 years ago, 11-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Pics of Dutch railways models

(...) Amazing detail on the station! The motorized sliding doors at the end were a nice little surprise! (...) For your building instructions, you may want to note that some pieces for which you used mock-ups have been created. (ie, the 6x4 wedge (...)   Re: Rails 12 V

Hi Adriling, I've got large quantities of 12V track, points, crossovers both new and used which I've kept for trades. I buy 12V train collections for the rollingstock parts (doors, windows, roof pieces, wagon plates, wheel sets etc.) which I use or (...) (25 years ago, 11-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Pnuematics: e-switch and thoughts

(...) Linc also seems to have a new (to me, anyway) pneumatic excavator at (URL) that's really awesome! The bucket was my very first part in LDraw, BTW. I could probably do better now that I'm more experienced, but I'm afraid it will be too much (...) (25 years ago, 11-Aug-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Lazy Tongs

(...) Yeah, that was the first one I built. It works, but not well. I think it was my design. The "piston" kept moving left and right off the track. I'm rebuilding it now with an experimental design. I may have to bite the bullet and use it. I'm (...) (25 years ago, 11-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Wireless data/control transmission

Yes, I've wondered about that also. The 802.11 chip set (Harris PRISM) might be an interesting choice, although increasing the H8 data rate from 2400b to 1Mb could be a small problem. With the PRISM chip set, you could get somewhere between 100 and (...) (25 years ago, 11-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

I know I owe several people e:mail responses. Last Wednesday I awoke with a pinched nerve in my neck (and numbing pain in my right arm) that has made posting impossible. I will get back to you as soon as I can. (25 years ago, 11-Aug-99, to lugnet.announce)

Re: Anybody used Robolab? (RE: my $1300 grant)

(...) I guess I do. If you're referring to the Getting Started - Teacher's Guide for ROBOLAB Software manual(#2000052), it certainly has lots of useful information. Much more than you will find in the paper that accompanies the RCX software. And (...) (25 years ago, 11-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)
