I'm neither the greatest photographer nor the greatest writer of captions, so keep that in mind as you view these: (URL) in advance for any embarassment or insults I may have caused with the captions.   Re: One New Train in Two Liveries-- Your opinion

(...) James, That is a great model, but I am not your target audience. I love the set, I just can't see spending that much on a train. I say this knowing that I have probably spent almost that much on the trains that I have built myself, but it (...) (20 years ago, 9-Nov-05, to lugnet.trains)

Re: One New Train in Two Liveries-- Your opinion

--SNIP-- (...) To be honest I toyed with that idea myself for The Ghan and was swayed more by laziness than generosity. I think that both are worthwhile. In some ways I think releasing custom kits and instructions is actually more beneficial to the (...) (20 years ago, 8-Nov-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: One New Train in Two Liveries-- Your opinion

(...) Tim, I'm glad to see your recent public posting of instructions for the NR 75 Ghan. It really gives me pause to think about where our LEGO train hobby is going and how well we are doing sharing ideas and growing in our creativity. I am torn (...)   Re: New Loco MOC

(...) Alban, I was inspired by your SNOT work on the windscreen to try to use the new 1x1x2/3 slope in replacement of the 1x2 45-deg slope that is either-side of the front windscreen. In CAD, it looks like this: (URL) Notice the 1/2-plate offset (...) (20 years ago, 8-Nov-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Free shipping on last of the Brickmania CD-Roms

Earlier today I realized that there are now less than 100 copies of my instructions CD left. To celebrate this milestone I haver decided to offer free shipping until New Years, or until they're sold out, whichever comes first. Due to the fact that (...)   Re: New Loco MOC

(...) Indeed, the front is very well done! I love the orange triangular bib. (...) Yet, stacked very well with good texture and relief. (...) Regardless, a really nice 8-wide with lots of nice little details. Great model! later, James Mathis (20 years ago, 8-Nov-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Question about image generation

How is an image like this created: (URL) how are the black lines done? Is there a special command, or is it a function of some software platform unfamiliar to me? Any info is appreciated. Dave! (20 years ago, 8-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Microscale USS Fletcher Class Destroyer

That's really nice. My first thoughts were of the old Tente ships - yours really looks like a ship because of the smooth hull. I especially like the asymetric construction in the bow to get everything to fit - clever solution! Would love to see more (...) (20 years ago, 8-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: New Loco MOC

(...) Thanks a lot. Yes, that was quite difficult to design. Of course there was several versions and in fact one day I had to rebuild the loco entirely to remove 2 plates in height because I found it to high. The middle of the loco is ashamedly (...) (20 years ago, 8-Nov-05, to lugnet.trains)
