Re: Using the Motor as a Tachometer

(...) I'm not a EE, but here's my take on the situation... Turning the motor increases the electrical potential (voltage) between its two contacts. If the motor isn't connected to anything, then its easy to turn - relatively little energy is (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Hello all... I was wondering how many Calgary Lego Mindstorms builders are out there? Are you one? Do you know any others? I know two others, plus myself. I would be interested in seeing some robot contest get togethers... <ICS> (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.loc.ca.ab)

Which set is the infamous Forest Wench in?

Subject pretty much says it all - which set is the forest wench in? I picked up an odd lot recently which had about 40 mini-figs in it. One of which is a female from what appears to be a castle theme, likely Dark Forest. There are a couple of other (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

  RE: Power steering for 8448

You should be able to get away with just a single rotation sensor. When you power up the RCX, you will not know the position of the steering. Now turn it one way until the rotation stops. You are now at the end point, and know the position of the (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Power steering for 8448

I don't have the 8448 or the RCX for that matter but I may have a partial solution for you. I've found that steering is a perfect application for the Micro Motor (part # 5119). The motor is very small but provides a surprising amount of torque. It (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)
