Re: 8 Wide LEGO Thomas! (pics)

(...) What happened since? (...) Well, the success of the series prompted the major motion picture release, which could rightly be called a "world stage". I realize that the books have been around a looong time. But as actual toys, Thomas, it seems (...) (21 years ago, 13-May-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.duplo, FTX)

Re: best way to support elevated plates?

(...) If you have lots of spare 2x4 bricks, then you can use the same technique we used at the 2002 GETS show: (URL) does use *lots* of 2x4 brick, and a few others, and you have to be quite careful to not leave large fractures in the structure, but (...)   Re: Original vs. Copy: Printed Lego Items

(...) Oooops, just realised the catalog is probably colour, and all colour copiers are digital (AFAIK). So yes, you can probably tell with enough magnification. ROSCO (21 years ago, 13-May-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Original vs. Copy: Printed Lego Items

(...) Depends on the copier. Most cheaper modern copiers use a digital printer-style engine to generate the copies, so you will see the pixelation at high magnification. However older ones transferred the image non-digitally, and many newer (...) (21 years ago, 13-May-05, to lugnet.general)

Original vs. Copy: Printed Lego Items

I received a 1964 Danish catalog from a European collector recently. Since I got if for free (after buying some other items), I thought it was great. The one sheet (two sided) catalog is in such great condition, I was wondering if it wasn't a (...) (21 years ago, 13-May-05, to lugnet.general)

  The pirate sloop Revenge

The Revenge ===...=== Long time readers of .pirates may recall the pirate sloop (URL) Revenge> (formerly the chasse maree Azelma), which was, for a time, the only pirate presence in the waters surrounding Port Brique.   Re: Exhibit at the National Trust for Historic Preservation Conference

(...) Hey, great job guys! Looks like it was a lot of fun. I am a huge fan of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the wonderful work they do! Lego and architecture go hand in hand. I am even working on a mini-fig version of an old (...) (21 years ago, 13-May-05, to lugnet.events)

Re: 8 Wide LEGO Thomas! (pics)

(...) Ahem. Thomas the Tank Engine books and records (7" 45 RPM!) were very popular in Australia in the early 70s. So while the TV series may have propelled it onto the North American stage, that is not necessarily the world stage. ROSCO (21 years ago, 12-May-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.duplo, FTX)

Re: Little off-topic but still pretty cool! Self-Replicating robots.

One created replicating robots from a pile of atoms(pixels) which then went on to build somthing else. The other (...) (21 years ago, 12-May-05, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Granule bushes

But they aren't making them. At least, not the ones you linked to on BL. Note the one on Brickshelf is placed into a palmtree base, whereas the older ones had their own bases. The one on Brickshelf is most likely handmade. I'd believe that, (...) (21 years ago, 12-May-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Advice wanted on selling Lego collection in Australia...

(...) Yes, I would think so. Not knowing exactly how much stuff you have in total, but if it's huge amounts, then split it again into smaller groups. This is because a lot of people on ebay have only small amounts of cash to spend, and therefore (...) (21 years ago, 12-May-05, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: best way to support elevated plates?

(...) I will say that, although we still have 4 modules with this kind of construction that we will keep together for the forseeable future, we have abandoned that building style. Those GMLTC-style modules of ours are/were 30" x 45" (2X3 large gray (...) (21 years ago, 12-May-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Swarm?

(...) Thanks, but I was asking because the school has hundreds of RCX's , motors, and sensors. I had in mind a RCX-based swarm, possibly linking together to cross a table gap, or some similar task. Thanks for the input, though. Andrew Meyer (21 years ago, 12-May-05, to lugnet.robotics)
