  Rock Raiders are here

I found some Rock Raiders sets at Beatties in Southampton today (Saturday 31/7) - they had small sets only. I bought 4910 Hover Scout (£2.25) and 4920 Rapid Rider (£3.99). They also had the Rock Raiders people pack (4930) for £4.99 and 4940 Granite (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jul-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

  Re: Why 5 to 6?

Brick sizes vary in the US and probably moreso across the globe. The "common" brick size is 8" x 4" x 2-2/3" nominal. Actual size subtracts 3/8" from each dimension for mortar joints. The size of the common brick is determined by human scale. The (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jul-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Distance Sensor

(...) By far the easiest solution is to buy one or more rotation ("angle"?) sensors from Lego. I overpaid for mine, but I've heard that you can get these for about $17 US from Lego Shop at Home. (Sorry, I don't have the URL handy...) These sensors (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Distance Sensor

This is a good plan. Linc Smith suggested a similar system to me only it was linear. I used the touch sensor to count the studs on a technic beam. I was traveling a short distance with a slider. Your plan sounds worth trying. Of course, a rotation (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Reverse (buyer's) auction for train windows and other parts

Mike P and Mike U have offered various prices for train parts, as did I, in a thread started in market.b-s-t Since we have several buyers competing for scarce sellers, seems to me we have a reverse auction going here, even though we don't currently (...)   Revised Arched Latticed WIndow Pane  [DAT]

I renamed the primitive to box6nl.dat (since it has 6 faces). I revised the part so that now the rotational axis is aligned with the x-axis. This means that if you want to rotate the window once it has been placed in a model you will have to move it (...)   Distance Sensor

Hello, Very sorry if this topic has already been brought up; I don't read this group, and don't even have a Mindstorms kit. I was thinking about how to make a distance sensor the other day, and I came up with a very simple idea, though I can not (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: WTB Train Parts

(...) I find that statement racist and highly offensive. Just thought you might want to know. Certainly you're not constrained from using it, but it is important to realise that other people share my view as well, so you may want to consider that. (...)   Re: Permanent outdoor train

(...) Um, what are you talking about when you say by volume? Are you saying that the number of OO modelers is larger than the number of HO modelers, or what? I don't think so. HO is used everywhere except in the UK and has thousands of different (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)
