Re: LNP Repost (Me banging on about checksums)

(...) You will miss about 1 in 256 errors that you do not catch earlier using collision detection. I think your error rate per message will be much less than 1 in 256 if you (can?) get the collision detection code right. But we shouldn't argue the (...)   Re: why is no-one saying anything about my parts?

(...) Ok, I took a look at a few of your parts this morning. <flame> The reason people haven't said boo about your parts is because they know it will be wasting their breath. There is still a lot lacking in the parts I viewed. The incessant bugging (...) (25 years ago, 29-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: New SW contest proposal

(...) I do applaud your effort and the spirit behind the contest. (...) One of the reasons is that AFOL's are often some of the busiest people. I want enter a model in Pat's contest, and I told him I might, but I have to polish up my model first, (...) (25 years ago, 29-Jul-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Dead handyboard?

(...) Antistatic bags are conductive, right? You might have shorted the power to the ground via the bag itself, thereby killing your battery. Once a NiCad cell shorts, then it will can a large amount of current from a charger, possibly killing off a (...) (25 years ago, 29-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: LNP Repost (Me banging on about checksums)

(...) With much respect, I would suggest that CRC8 is probably not sufficient, especially if we go for a broadcast (Ethernet) solution, where lots of collisions, and hence errors, will probably occur - with CRC8 you will probably miss about 1 in 256 (...)   Re: mouse-click bug in mindstorms software?

My response would be to drop the mindstorm software. I hated it cause those red blocks won't let me put 2 in a program unless I use command blocks and even then it ticked me off. Also I would do NQC, GPB, or VB instead, far better than the mindstorm (...) (25 years ago, 29-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)
