Re: IR Port as Proximity detector.

Yeah, checked on Lego Mindstorms Internal Page. According to the info quoted below, the single byte message is wrapped in a simple protocol "wrapper". Much of the data is actually the wrapper, 8:1 I think. The 0's actually represent the light pulse, (...) (27 years ago, 8-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: IR Port as Proximity detector.

(...) As far as I know (from the Mindstorms Internal page's info), the SendMessage(x) function doesn't send just one byte, but a whole string of them as part of a simple protocol "wrapper" around the x's value. By sending any byte as x, you are (...) (27 years ago, 8-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: MSP Fest?

Oh... you have been there- Bandana Square it's called. And you haven't been to the MOA? Then you will probably want to check that out. The LIC will surely disappoint, although having had it in my backyard may have tainted my perspective. My family (...) (27 years ago, 8-Jan-99, to lugnet.loc.us.mn.msp)

Re: IR Transmission Range when bounced off of Ceiling...

(...) Gave it a try last night, got maximum control ranges to about 15-20 feet. The presence of furniture interfering with direct line of sight by ground was not a problem as long as there was good line of sight to the ceiling for the upward (...) (27 years ago, 8-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: See X-Wing Fighter in Ldraw/Ldlite

(...) And what are those pieces holding the new canopies in place? Looks like there are at least two different holder-bricks: a 1x1 with a top connector for the X-wing and Y-wing, and then a 1x2 with a side connector for the Snow Speeder. Steve (27 years ago, 8-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: BEN Erwin

Check out Pitsco LEGO Dacta for other Mindstorms cirriculum. Although they really only have cirriculums for K thru 8 you might be able to expand on what they have. (...) NIC Architect MCI Worldcom (27 years ago, 8-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: IR Port as Proximity detector.

(...) Agreed, I could have sent OhFF or any number for that matter. Sending the read light level was a legacy of my early debugging code in which I was using RcxCC's live monitoring feature to see what values were being read to establish my (...) (27 years ago, 8-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)
