Re: what (who?) was the first artculated mini-fig?

Those sets show up first in the 1978 catalog. also if you look at the 1978 NL catalog there are many sets with minifigs. I don't think we can pin it down to one minifig, but I believe 1978 was the year. KL (...) Released (...) version (...) (26 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

9v idea book: expanding on what I said earlier

There is going to be one hard and fast rule for this book. All models for which instructions are shown have to use elements that have been used by TLG in a recent set that people are likely to be able to get. This is an idea book so everything we (...) (26 years ago, 3-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: what (who?) was the first artculated mini-fig?

I'll agree to that. One of my favoriter sets from that year was 208 Mother with Baby Carriage, featuring a MaxiFig and a minifig. I distinctly remember getting 885 Space Scooter and 889 Radar Truck that year, in Toronto at a Kiwanis International (...) (26 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

Shopko has further reductions on clearance

I stopped by Shopko today and they have reduced all their clearance items to ~2/3 off retail. They had 1998 ninja, adventurers, cyber and rescue. They will scan the lower price even if they are not marked on clearance. Rose (26 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)
