Here are some images from my in progress layout.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=396309

I am working toward the same goal with urban-realism.  I have reduced the scale
of a number of buildings with 3 wide windows and also I have focused more on
sculpted landscaping this time around.

Some vehicles are inspired and copied from others in the AFOL world. (Thanks!)

Much more to do on this, but wanted to share on my progress.

Enjoy!

Jonathan

Just been looking at these. I have to say that despite all the cool new builders
around you are still my number one inspiration for building town and train
stuff. I will examine every pic in great detail, and hopefully have something to
show myself soon!

Oooohh! That is so beautiful. From some of the thumbnails, I'd swear I was
looking at pictures from "Model Railroader"! There is so much to like.

Wow! I always enjoy your cityscapes Jonathan. This is exactly why I keep a link

Great work Jonathan! You are definitely one of the key people I draw inspiration from and your city layout is nothing short of amazing. You really capture the look and feel of the urban landscape and I am always amazed by the amount of detail your MOC’s posses. Great, great work!!!

That's quite a town you have there.  Is Al's a diner?

Thanks.  Yes, Al's is a Diner.  Do you mean a real life diner?  Assuming you do,
there is actually a pretty cool story about that.

There is a diner in Fall River, Mass. called AlMac's. I havee a book on
Photorealistic painters - a number of whom paint pictures of diners.  I was
looking through the book and came across AlMac's and decided to build it.  While
researching it I noticed it was located in Fall River - where my father is from.
I asked him if he knew of it and he said he did and that it - along with a super
market chain, called AlMac's were once in our family.

Pretty cool, I think, being the book had many diners to choose from and I chose
to build that one before knowing the history.

Thanks for reading (and for looking at my photos.)

Best,
Jonathan

Thanks, Dave. And, thanks everyone else who posted and looked at the photos. I still build and enjoy doing it - so, much more to come. The pace might be slower, but I am still around.

Good to see familiar names myself.

Thanks once again.

Best, Jonathan

Neat story.  That's quite a coincidence!  Maybe it's some kind of omen.  If you
keep making real life buildings in LEGO, eventually you'll own them. ;-)

Great to see you back in action Jonathan! Even die hard castle fan that I am, I always look forward to being inspired by your layouts... Loving the increased focus on landscaping as well!

Great work and thanks for sharing!

God Bless,

Nathan
