Here is another addition to my retro look at space.
After browsing the concept gallery at CSF I was inspired to build another
ship. The original drawing was from the science fiction cover artwork by Frank
R. Paul on the Nov 1929 issue of Wonder Stories mag.
Full size pic found here... http://www.frankwu.com/Paul-7.html
My mspaint bad edit job...
My version, at this past weekends display in T.O.
I think this project was a perfect match for me, aside from being another fast
and fun build, I got to mix my love of micro with my twisted retro space
interests, and as a bonus I got to exploit an interesting artist as well.
Rest of the gallery, when moderated... here

All photos that start with CT are credited to Calum Tsang and the ones that
start with AB to Allan Bedford. Also thanks to Chris for giving me the
remainered 14 black boat studs I needed to finish off this MOC for this past
weekend show, and for Jason for babysitting my MOC until the next display of it.

Very nice, Janey.
I especially like the radial greebling underneath, but youve managed to capture
the feel of a city in microscale very well.

Thanks Bredan,
Not being a huge scifi fan, I was surprised of how much I was really taken with
his cover art, in fact I just started working on another one of his ships from
his mag covers, and YAY, this time I get to work in red.

Troglyte?? Me? Surely you have enhaled a bit too much of the zienite in its raw
state.
You have proved without a doubt our suspicions of it stunting the subjects
intelligence and emotional control. Otherwise, you would have never made such a
grievous error in addressing me. For future reference... never lump me in with
those miners, I expect you to get my name correct, thats Droxine to you, a
privileged cloud-dweller, born and bred. Hopefully your pretty little head can
manage to remember.

Dont mind those rebel scum. They took your zienite shipment. Now be a good boy
and run along and find it. Wink.

Your ability to cross themes (or completely ignore them) is amazing. I mean that
as a compliment, I hope it came out that way. You seem to have a terrific knack
for sculpting whatever it is you wish to create.

I think I mentioned to you on Sunday that one of the aspects of this model I
liked the most was the monochrome color scheme on the upper part. When youre
using parts that are all the same color youre relying entirely upon part
selection and attachment combinations to achieve the look you want. And I think
you really captured the look/feel of that magazine cover.
And for the record:
That picture was my lame attempt to color match the background of my photo with
your original source material. The original photo has much better color
properties. :)

Actually, he told me privately this this was really his MOC and that youd just
taken credit for it. Is there any truth to this?

Thanks Allan, that is actually a conscious choice, I have problem with living in
a box. I dont want to master any theme, just be a jack of all, I still have a
few to hit.

Well that was my mistake as well, I said burgundy, but when I went back to look,
sure enough it was a bright pink, but beside that lapse in my own reality, I
like the effect you created.

Well when I let him out of his building slave cage he does create nice work,
freedom does wonders for the building soul... but when it comes right down to
it, they are still my bricks, therefore, still my MOC. LOL
Ding! Times up, back to the cage Jas.

Converting the world to yellow, Red Brick?
Or is it a plot to keep all the red for yourself?

YES, errrr ummmm... I mean, no of course not, why ever would I do that?? (tries
to appear innocent, while pilfering all of Allisters red).
That pout suits you.
