    Space Contest! —Mark Sandlin
Ok, everyone... I'd like to organize a contest for creating non-military Space vehicles. The first thing I need to do is come up with categories. Here are the ones I can think of: Personal - Space Cars, Family vehicles, etc. Commercial - Moving (...) (24 years ago, 8-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

        Re: Space Contest! —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Sounds great! I'd love to see lots of people enter a contest like this--great opportunity for lots of small unique models. (Well, I doubt a freighter would be small, but the rest would probably be smaller than most other space fighters, (...) (24 years ago, 8-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

        Re: Space Contest! —Tom McDonald
(...) Those sound great.. the only other thing might be an "Other" catagory, one that features anything else that is undeniably non-military. And it might be a catch-all category for anything remaining or else there's too many categories. Now... (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

        Re: Space Contest! —Dave Johann
(...) At least one more category is needed: Movie inspired creations. As I was building a personal transportation vehicle I came up with a problem: This enging is just too cool to hide away inside a vehicle. As I continued building, I realized that (...)          Re: Space Contest! —Mark Sandlin
Ok, then... I accept the proposal for an extra category for Movie Inspired creations. The only stipulation I'm going to make is that these creations must be Original MOCs. I've seen all the MOC versions of X-Wings and the Enterprise. I want to see (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

A rule that I would like to suggest. No starwars stuff. Anyone here disaggree with this? (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

(...) [snip] (...) I might suggest "Dioramma"(sp?) or "Interiors". A bunch a stuff at once. <grin> For all the cargo bay, space ports, and fighter prep' type models. (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

         Re: Space Contest! —Mark Sandlin
Well, my focus is going to be on the craft itself. However, in the judging, I will consider the presentation of the vehicle. If you go a lot of work building a scene around it, then you'll definitely get more points. I plan on having some rules (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

        Re: Space Contest! —Jonathan Wilson
Are cad models acceptable? I have some cool ideas for ships that I could build and enter... Also as well as minifig and microfig scales, dont forget a class for ships that are at scales larger than minifig. (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

         Re: Space Contest! —Mark Sandlin
(...) could (...) Sure thing. I only ask that entries be made into .jpg before they are sent to me. I suppose I can add a maxifig scale, though I don't see very many of those floating around. ~Mark (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

        Re: Space Contest! —Jonathan Wilson
Where would one put spacecraft that move lots of people at once like space buses, cruise spaceships (what I am planing to model) and so on? (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

        Re: Space Contest! —Patrick Justison
Looks like im going to have to finsh my microfig scale cargo ship, either that or take the guns of one of my other ships. (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

(...) ...Sigh. I'm Andy, the guy with no scanner, no digital camera, and no LDraw skills. Therefore I'm Andy, the guy who can't show anyone what he builds. ::snif:: -Andy && (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

         Re: Space Contest! —Mark Sandlin
Andy, 1) go buy a disposable camera if you don't have a regular 35mm 1a) OR, check your yellow pages for a place that rents digital cameras. They do exist. If you are able to do this, skip to step 4. 2) get the film developed and have them make you (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

        Re: Space Contest! —Jeff Elliott
Just curious: Are you willing to consider space stations? Not bases (ground installations), but "2001:ASO", or C.J.Cherryh type orbital stuff? Otherwise I'm going to have to put engines on a research station :) It's - uh - a *science* ship. Yeah, (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

         Re: Space Contest! —Jason Rowoldt
Before I go building this huge idea I had, I wanted to know if it is a valid entry. My idea is a moving "gravball" stadium. Would this be considered a commercial vehicle? Jason (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)

         Re: Space Contest! —Mark Sandlin
That depends on how you build it, according to the rules I have laid out. If you build a spaceship with a gravball stadium in it, then that's ok. If you build a stadium and slap engines on it, then that's not ok. I'm having a -vehicle- contest, and (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jun-00, to lugnet.space)
