I've got one tall mast base that's like that too, but I got it in a trade,
so I don't know the original source. Surprised the heck out of me when I
found it. I figured mine was just a fluek, but now I wonder...

| (...) I have examples of both types, but naively assumed it was deliberate. Possibly related (but probably not) is the existence of two slightly different versions of the tall rigging part. IIRC they differ in height by about half the width of one (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jul-00, to lugnet.pirates)
